Currently I'm investing on a Dean guitar cos I'm a Metal/Rock fan....well...Bullet For My Valentine to be exact...
1) Does Dean guitars sound like those that BFMV use?
2) If so, what model should i get to get those "metallic" sound and roughly how much do they cost?
3) Does Dean guitars sound more rock/metallic by default? compared to other guitars...

Thanks alot, help appreciated...

Hi there permutare,

I think there had been alot of people asking whether the guitar they want to buy can sound like the stuffs they hear in their mp3 players or on youtube. So I will kindly guide u along over here.

1) Does Dean guitars sound like those that BFMV use?

Yes, even a Samick can sound like the one they use because its not the brand, but the electronics, body material, effects and the amplifier you use that makes the difference.

2) If so, what model should i get to get those "metallic" sound and roughly how much do they cost?

You can get any model you want, just tweak the sound by either
- changing the pickups
- using the amplifiers they use (which are Mesa Boogie)
- use the same effects as them
- the cost is huge bro, I won't quote you on that

3) Does Dean guitars sound more rock/metallic by default? compared to other guitars...

The answer is no. You can also try others like Ibanez or ESP or Jackson guitars, the pickups slapped into them are fierce.

Lastly bro, u can get Dean guitars @ Music Theme or Ranking Sports.

I hope I have answered all your questions.

how can deans not sound metal.dude dimebucker and emgs my man.almost what esp and ibanez offer.and bfmv uses jackson rr1(the lead-singer).the other uses esp(dave mustaine model i think).well maybe dont look to what guitar but the amp.a high gain amp can get you as heavy as pantera.now that is metal.and if you wanna get a jackson rr.suggest find harrison.he's got a jackson to let go.

Hi Dime :)

I did not say that Dean don't sound metal.

Does Dean guitars sound more rock/metallic by default? compared to other guitars...

I guess I'm right in saying that they don't sound MORE rock/metallica by default because of gre8 competition by ESP, Jackson & Ibanez.

permutare: yes, Harrison is offloading his RR5, which is good for ur metal assault cuz they got the shape of ur idol band & they got EMGs. go grab it.

I don't know man.. I love them too, but I haven't tried to emulate their tone..

Some suggestions
1) Boss MT-2 modded
2) Line6 Uber Metal
3) MI Audio Tube Zone
4) Skreddy Screwdriver

Not exhaustive by nature :) There will be more recommendations coming in.

Hmm....putting the picking at zero tone could gimme that BFMV tone?
and what model of Seymour Duncan pickups should i get?
Humbuckers?
Stratocasters?
Full Shred?
George Lynch Screamin’ Demon?

I don't quite get this line, can u explain it to me?

I probably suggest u go for EMGs if you want that "metal metal clinkx clankx clunkx" tone

EMG 60/81 or EMG 85/81.

to the right? how u gonna do that? i thought it is fixed in its position? u can only adjust the height my friend..

putting tone a zero would give a blunt sound.hard to achieve harmonics.wait does bfmv put theirs at zero?who does that?

yeah like neuro182 says.get emgs preferbally the zakk wylde set.if you want better cleans then 81 and 60.maybe duncans like JB at the bridge and jazz on the neck might also do the trick.commonly found on standard jackson rr as stock.

sorry...i was blabbering nuts....
anyway, does changing the height affects anything?

man these answers really broadens my guitar knowledge..
seriously, thanks.....

Hey dude, i believe that Matthew Tuck uses a Jackson.
As for your question about which guitar gives a more "rock"/"metal" sound, i feel its kinda general.

A lot, and i do mean A LOT, of different types of guitars have been used by bands to achieve some heavy sounds. From flying vs to superstrats, teles etc. So it is really hard to define which certain brand or type would give the rock tone. Generally, what contributes to the "rockness" of the tone would be the output level of the pickups, and of course the amp's gain or pedals.

George Lynch Screamin’ Demon model aint high out put it's like a 59 seymour duncan pickup

i perfer a 85/60 EMG pickup arrangement for more verstile blues playing and metal . but if u're really into metal get the 81/85 :) .

but with a small practise amp u can hardly can anywhere to thier tone , i dont suggest EMG's if u have like a 10-15watt marshall mg or some line6 spiders .

GO FOR A PEAVEY MAN!!EVH!!5150!!6505!!WOOO!!

eh anyone tried the krank rev jr at penin.the krank that looks like a mini-stack.i think its got some 12AX7 in it.kinda sick.but krank tend to be overrated.
