Hi guys,

I know both are great distortion pedals, but just checking out the opinions of others regarding these 2 pedals. If you have to choose one, which would it be? and why?

Thanks!

I would go for the 7th just for the sake of versatility because it has more knobs and tweaking options. IMO it's a really transparent pedal so if you want dirt with definition, this is the pedal for you.

More importantly, what are you going to feed the pedals into? Hopefully it's a nice tube amp with at least a 1x12 speaker. that would sound killer. If it's along the lines of a Marshall MG15, you should consider getting a better amp first.

Riot for me, had a 7th last time but it didn't take long until i sold it to get other, versatility aside it's quite hard to dial in sweet tone for me. Riot made tweaking much easier and it sounds good on most amp. Just my 2 cents, 7th works for most of the folks here though. :)

yeah exact same opinions as munak. i do have both pedals, got a riot first and loved it. then i got a 7th like a couple of weeks back cause of all the good reviews, but have not been able to find the sweet spot for it yet, perhaps too many options to tweak (which is a good thing actually haha)

yeah i do plug it in a vox ac15 at home, and they have those bigass tube amps(marshall jcm and blackstar artisan) in church. did most of the tweaking at home though.

do you think there's a need to keep both on my pedalboard?

Personally I would prefer a more simple pedal, more knobs means more stuff to tweak.

There's no need to keep both, you could donate one... haha :)

+1 on the Suhr Riot.. :-)

Love the gnarly tone its giving me, ballsy n defined lead tone n cut thru the mix like a switchblade too. Lol..

Sold and re-bought both the Riot and Seventh once. Now i do not own them both.

Riot's definitively more value for money though, especially if you can snag a second hand up. Modern sounding marshall in a box and nobody can get a bad tone out of it. The only down side about the riot is that it's quite noisy when the gain is set high.

The Seventh on the other hand required some tweaking time but once you find the tone you like, you will attempt to tweak it again. Never ending cycle but very versatile.

Just my 2cents. Cheers!

Both are readily available in stores so check them out and see which you prefer.
When you're at Guitar77 to try out the Riot, give the MaxZ Hi-Gain Monster pedal a whirl; that pedal has wowed many unassuming customers.

I had the gt10 b4, too many hours tweaking juz for the tone . Now its plug n play for me with the least amount of tweaking. :-) The best playable tones out of the box, wins. In this case, the Riot.. :-)
