hi all thres an old saying that says exposure is good bt overdo it and itll kill.im kinda sad alot of bands with potential have succumbed to overpublicity anyways what bands you guys think have the potential but died due to overxposure?
any bands new or old you think would have make it if it isnt for overxposure.in my opinion the darkness were certainly overrated and died before thier time which was sad coz they made good music

the darkness

hi anybody got any news about the "new" darkness?miss them alot.i thought they were gonna bring back rock n roll.but they died off too soon.

i don't think the Darkness were overated at all. i like their stuff. it was a breath of fresh air and anyone who took Justin Hawkins seriously, just doesn't get it. i mean, i don't think they didn't do well because of over-exposure. it was a case of, people didn't get the rockstar opera thing in this day and age. music listeners have gotten too emo and forgotten how to enjoy themselves.

i missed this Rock Star: The Darkness thing, were they the feature band on the third season? if so, i haven't seen it and it sounds like a new low for them then. but the first album was great.

I think the Rock Star: The Darkness was meant as a joke.. haha. The Darkness is awesome, and will continue to be awesome once Justin Hawkins comes out of rehab.

Um...A band like My Chemical Romance was better before they became too big, IMO. I don't think The Darkness is overrated at all.

i think the darkness is slightly UNDERrated
its quite funny because in TotalGuitar magazine (#157 06 awards)
8% voted them for them in worst band category
and yet 12% voted them for best band of the year (which btw, rhcp won with 17%)
similarly rhcp won best album andthe darkness came in 2nd
and for worst album keane won and the darkness again came in second place

hi all

hmms yeah i guess darkness aint as overrtaed as i thought maybe i jus thought justin was getting indulgent coz i saw this performance of thiers where justin did a solo and suddenly he was risong up on this elevated platform now i know frontman get all the attention but i believe that it was a 'gene simmons' syndrome trying to force himself down ppls throat i jus believe all of them should get the same attneion.ha but i maybe wton in some ways ha.yeah defintly gnr were thir own victims.ill start tuning to the radio more too

To me Linkin Park is overrated !! Seriously!!
So is all boy bands.. Hehhehe

That was the truest thing I've ever heard in a while...Hi-five!!!

Actually to be honest, I used to like Linkin Park, in their old days. Ever since they released M2M I began to think their new music sounds too commercialized to be unique.

The White Stripes -They are pretty good, but the fact that there is nobody to compare them against inflates their value, and you wouldn't really know of them if not for their arrangement of two people, are jack and meg white siblings?

White Stripes peers? Check out The Black Keys who coincidentally started about the same time...very similar too. There's also The Jon Spencer Blues Explosion from the mid 90s who have a similar garage blues sound; Boss Hog and Royal Trux too from that era. The Whats from Brisbane are modern contemporaries who also follow the two-piece thing though theirs has less of a blues influence. The Mess Hall are another Australian band who do the 2-piece garage blues rock thing very well. Go listen, and have fun!
