Well earlier, i wrote something quite long but my firefox got crazy and i've lost everything. Haiya back to square one.
Well, i've gotta ask u the umm yamaha e kit that u have. Issit their flagship and high ends ones?? If yes, than it's a killer man!! But the limited imputs would definately be a real bummer. and the cost price, is simply dazzling! well i do hope u like em

anyways, i've always thought that my neighbours would hate me playing my drums one afternoon and i'd be hearing faint crying noises down below when the baby is waken up by it. So, after much thought and being a good samaritan, i'd be migrating to E kits.
So i read everything about e kits, how they works and also pricing. I placed my crappy ol set on luthermusic and here but people would wanna settle for less than 400 bucks - it cost me 1.1k for thet whole thing including shipping from indonesia.
So i watched through ebay, fly to youtube and finally, i landed at Vdrums.com
Read it when i have the free time and i've decided that owning a "ready made set" will simply have lots of backfire when i get to play a real acoustic set.
Diy was the way to go and there are lots of advantages to it, to name a few: its cheaper and i can get the Looks of a REAL ACOUSTIC SET!
Not to mention, the flagship TD-20 has the COSM sound file which i can vedit anything u want.

So, all said and done, my whole set would cost about 4000 SGD with everything from mesh heads to the Vrack and the flagship TD-20!!. A good bargain when u have a ready made set which lacks the "acoustic" feel for 12000 SGD!! Swee lee retails it.!

alternatively, instead of getting a ready made set, i'd recommend u a cheap DIY route if u have a budget of 3500, u can get a cheap ol set from ebay, ship em and get a TD-12... A follow up to the flagship TD-20 with slightly less features with the td-20 but still great since they have the oh so good COSM sound files.
i can help u make some trigger systems or u can diy ur own. But if u can't differenciate a PIEZO from a PIZZA, i'd be glad to help u DIY the trigger system.
an alternative if u are staying at a hostel and u might lose the "acoustic" feel after playing Electronic set for a much long time.

somone toking about DIYing? i got my own DIY set too...A - E convertion using Pearl RT...but currently loack of module for a long time...lol!! coz get the budget to get one...dang...so juz silent practice...but did try all my trigger b4 and all working fine...btw...i do have one extra 12" PRT black tom for trade or sale...anyone intrested can contact me.

with a 3500 or lesser, u can get a standard 5 piece kit with all the chokeable crashes and ride, all acoustic to electronic triggered. with a much better module a td-6v.. !

For me, the 8" splash sounds great... like chillie padi... small but power! Value for money. By the way, we are the only two at present have this cymbal in Singapore as Accent brought in two only. You may consider getting the 10" and the 12"... 8)
yea man...powerdamama la...limited edition splash...the splash are all very thin but sounds brightlike china..but the 10 inch one cost about $65...i mean i rather get the 8 inch paiste pst5 from ranking...you have the 10 and 12 inch is it...? how does it sounds like...? similar to the 8 inch...?

thanks for the specs farid. really appreciate it. never heard of Zyn cymbals. are they good? how do they sound?
hmmn..from what i know is that Zyn cymbals comes from premier drum company...those oldies such as beatles and jazz bands use it generously through out the 50s to 70s i think...it really sound dark and mellow...something very jazzy maybe...? :lol: haha..yea...tried my best explaiin the sound...

haha yea man...you should try it frummer and dull theater...even though the price is like near to paiste splash,its really a different sound..dont let the price of the branding take the better of you...i know i said that for $65 i rather get a pst5 splash from ranking..what i mean was,for me i like the pst5 sound and at $65 i might give it a try...haha...nevertheless,wuhan la or louhan la,so long the sound is great for you,then it will do you good...haha..hopefully no one misunderstand me here...cheers...hehe..

Zyn started production in 1950 and discontinued by Premier in 1984. Prior to tat, they sold their cymbals under the Premier Spun cymbals brand name. Jus some info on the obscure cymbals. :lol:
