nu-metal:exist or extinct?

lamestaine, i said metal evolved to become more technical and complex, i have no idea why you put up an animated gif of some emo or nu-metal band playing obviously uncomplex songs, having absolutely nothing to do with metal.

What band is that? That can't be a metal band... the drum set is too simple!!!! It also reminds me alot of those black metal bands and thier wierd poses.

metal evolved to become more technical and complex, they didn't evolve to become crap like rap or nu-metal, which are entirely different from metal.

i enjoy grunge but to say grunge = metal? c'mon. you might as well say punk = metal. grunge is more like punk. just because something is heavy doesn't mean it is metal.

that's incredibly stupid, now metalheads = nerds? not surprising coming from someone who can't differentiate grunge and nu-metal from metal.

Sad, eh.

This forum was supposed to cover all music genres. It appears that on this forum, some genres can't be discussed by its fans in peace...

^haha dont care them lah..

i remember primary school days everyone watch wrestling and Undertaker entrance was that LB song rollin'

aahh good times

This topic is very touchy. Not only here but other music forums I've been to as well. Sure to be some arguments going on.

I remember the time when Undertaker came out with the funeral dirge, I thought he was really possessed. Still 1 of the best entrance in wrestling history, second to Ultimate Warrior's crazy sprint to the ring.

New unspoken rule on SOFT forums: Do not start any threads on nu-metal because Van_Halen will come and crash it down.

But lets continue this thread anyway. Ignore Van_Halen. He's the only one dissing nu-metal on this thread anyway.

Anyone here into Adema? I find them a very complicated band. They were nu-metal at first, then after a change of vocalist from Mark Chavez to this Luke something, they became alternative rock... I think they're back with nu-metal now.

I dislike Fred Durst, though, sometimes I wish the members of Limp Bizkit would form a side project with perhaps... Jonathan Davis, or Corey Taylor? :D

Indeed. Imagine if nu-metal was mentioned on Encyclopedia Metallum's forums. There'd be hell unleashed haha. Encyclopedia Metallum's forums are quite funny, actually. They even have arguments about melodic death metal and whether it's real death metal, and you have the traditional death metal fans dissing it.

To be honest, I don't know why melodic death metal is called that... it isn't one bit death metal. I just call it melodic brutal metal because it's more brutal than melodic metal genres like power metal. But ah well, I don't wanna take this topic further off-topic with this debate.

new unspoken rule on SOFT forums: cannot differentiate between nu-metal and metal because EugeneSmasher will smash you.

anyway i only reacted, in an objective manner, because of some nu-metal fanboy here who dissed emo/punk. i found it ironic that a nu-metal fanboy can say such things about punk/emo. why are you singling me out and not dissing him as well? unfair isn't it? is it because he is a nu-metal fanboy and i'm not?

i admit, i used to listen to bands like korn, limp bizkit, etc. now u have to admit that they are now bullshit. not so much the music itself but the fact that the champions of that genre of music dropped their balls for some reason.

so similarly emopunkcore whatever will one day become a disgraceful and embarrassing phase. but maybe that day has not come yet, so for now enjoy lah

Agreed. I find that the better nu-metal bands are the lesser-known ones. For some reason, Korn and Limp Bizkit have grown kind of boring. I don't know if Wes Borland's other bands can be considered nu-metal, but I love their stuff. Better than Limp Bizkit in my humble opinion.

I like Godsmack the most. A lot of nu-metal bands have gotten rather boring over the years but Godsmack still runs strong. I'm not a big fan of the new material by Staind and Disturbed... I prefer their old stuff when they were heavier and darker.
