nu-metal:exist or extinct?

you know, i won't be so bothered by nu-metal if they don't call themselves nu-metal. cos they are totally unrelated to metal.

Well, you went ahead to say that nu metal is not real music. You and I, we can't be friends.

I can't be nice to people who insult music they don't like as being not real music.

I can be friends with people who have different music tastes. I hate emo but I have friends who love emo.

I just can't be friends with people who insult music they don't like as not being real music. They totally neglect the fact that different people have different tastes. I don't care if you think nu-metal sucks, the way you said that it's not real music is offensive to people who like nu metal.

You don't like nu-metal, fine. Say it all you want. Just don't insult it.

Simple as that.

if you look at it objectively, what's so musical about nu-metal? it's just like rap. nu-metal IS rap, mixed with distorted guitars, drums and bass which they claim to be "metal" but hell isn't. seriously.

Forget it. I don't want to argue with anyone.

I just wish people would just keep offensive opinions to themselves for the sake of keeping this forum civil.

if you like nu metal then like it lor, why need to care about the opinions of metal elitists.

btw i am a metal elitist myself, but i have no qualms with nu metal coexisting with metal.

btw i'm not even a metal elitist. i enjoy metal, rock, blues, jazz, classical, pop, abit of techno/trance. i just feel that i have to speak up for metal in case people confuse nu-metal with metal.

Nu Metal is not metal? I would have to totally disagree. Not every Nu-Metal band has rap in it, look at Disturbed and Creed. Yes, they both fall into the Nu-Metal genre too. I personally hate Screamo/Metalcore/Emo/Black Metal etc but I probably won't go to the extent to say it isn't music.

Hmm...guys maybe we should get back to the basics. what makes metal, METAL?

well honestly i believe that nu-metal is still metal but since it's not our taste so we shall just leave it alone, no?

Nu-metal guys, don't hate me for this. I love nu-metal too. But...

I don't think nu-metal belongs to metal. It doesn't seem to belong to anything, in fact. It is a very experimental genre, fusing influences from everywhere. Ill Nino has Brazilian folk influences as does Soulfly. Then you have bands like Godsmack which are just plain heavy and groovy from start to end, then to Linkin Park which has rap and industrial.

Basically, nu-metal's on its own, since it's a very experimental, fusion genre rather than a subgenre of anything.

just because some nu-metal bands don't rap, it does not mean that they are metal

So how would you define metal then? Honestly speaking, there is no "nu-metal" genre. It's just a period of time when all these new metal bands were emerging with a unique sound. Around 94 from when Korn first started to the early 2000 period.

Surely guys like Papa Roach can be considered metal music players.
