New FR users, Setup help available.

Ah... well...
OFR is a direct retrofit. The posts would prob fit into the your current trem post holders. The trem block size is something like 37mm, it will not stick out of the cavity.

Gotoh is much better quality. Comes with locking posts which are an upgrade over your trs posts, but you will have to pull out (yes, pull out) your current trem posts, holder and all, then hammer (yes, hammer) in the new locking posts... thats if it can still fit, otherwise, its a bit of drilling and you're done. Trem block is longer, 41mm, and it will prob stick out of your cavity, so you can't cover it up, not a biggie, imagine me and my Sabre with the Gotoh and its sticking out like 3 mm. Had a custom plastic cavity cover made.

I would say Gotoh but if you wanna convience and good fit plus cheaper alternative... OFR.

Warmoth sells the OFR for 170USD with shipping, i'm sure if you look hard enough, you can find better deals online. Gotoh is around 190USD i think? From www.internetmusicsupply.com

Do contact me if you wanna purchase them, you have to specify nut size so if you are not sure, i can help.

Local stores? Schaller Trem is available at GC. For 375 SGD. or around there.

Davis? The trems there are like your TRS.

Nut size because, well, erm... different necks diff width?

well, do consider it seriously, save up bit by bit.

How do you think I would be able to afford my Gotoh? That refret by Malcom?

Save it up slow man... might take weeks or months but do it. For all you know, when you got the cash, Swee Lee comes along with a 50% and you realise you actually have enough for another axe. 8)

Hahahaha! I got my first proper axe this way.

Shred, im so damn sure the problem is cause it touches the back ... i wonder if it's because my trem may not be in neutral position ...

Basically when i use the trem, the springs will rub against the body, even getting stuck sometimes for split seconds cause of the ridge at the back catching the springs ...

Haha, Detroit, yours seem to be really screwed. If it was me I'll stop fiddling with it and bring it to a tech of Shredcow.

This sounds pretty bad. Hmmmm. Even if a trem is not in neutral position, its got to be WAY off to have such a phenomenon happen. Take pics if you can.

My digicam spoil ah, or else i would take pics ... my friend says that the block may be too short, like a manufacturing defect ... I think so too ah ... Cause from pics it looks much longer ...

Dude, if you are using the correct Ibanez trem, it would be okay. Ibanez trems use short (37mm and shorter) trem blocks all the time.

The other reason i can think of is your trem is set very high, in other words, you raised your trem posts till your springs hit the body. Highly likely.

In anycase, no pics, I cannot pinpoint for sure.

Tell me when you free to drop by.
