New Drum Centre In EXCELSIOR!!

If you let your pedal settings stay at medium, at least the deviation from other people's pedal isn't too bad.

Say this guy has tight tension on his own pedals, that you have to use. By using medium tension, it's not as bad a jump from as compared to you using loose tension all the time..

Ditto for the case when the guy has loose tension.

Loose--------medium--------tight

See the distance gap there? From medium you can pretty much get used to the both ends of the spectrum a heck lot easier.

Simple logic, really. Works for me, I don't know about you... it's not feasible for me to bring my pedals everywhere I go.

yea funky i understood...but i was being a little more dramatic when i said from LOOSE ALL THE WAY TO SUPER TIGHT... yea..

anyway yesterday i brought my iron cobras to the studio..i just buoght it about 3 weeks ago.. and i was so paranoid about it being dirty... when i got home i was wiping the hard case.. and every part of the pedals....man i was so paranoid man...one speck of dust and i'm like....SHIT SHIT!!!! WHERE THE FFFF ARE THE TISSUES!!!!! oR THE CLOTH!!! ahaha.. yea but iron cobras are really smooth and nice.. =D i'm glad i bought those with the double chains...if it were single chain i may break it real soon judging from the way i play...

hahaha fwah loa no need to care for them until like that wat! i use to carry my single pedal with me ard in my bag. it got smashed and nicked and bent and all that and i think it looks cool like that. like badges of accomplishment hahahah. haven't had a problem in the 7yrs of use. shit my pedal is that old!! DW pedals still rock lah whoever said the footboard breaks should just learn to play softer

My pedal's setting:

Pearl Power Shifter P-202 (Old Model)

Beater Head Height: Default
Beater Head Distance: 10cm from batter
Spring Tension: Slightly Tight (for faster rebound)
Footboard setting: Eliminator shift 2

any1 noticed that istanbul mehmet's website is really not user friendly?

anyway...whats the diff between istanbul agop n mehmets?

hmm...thx in advance

Hello All!

I must apologise that I have kinda been MIA for a while, how is everyone doing??? well I have been "tired" phyiscally and mentally stretched. Lots of things going thru my mind about drumming stuffs.

Just finished playing a small concert at NUSUCC yesterday night, can't wait for the audio & DVD recording!!! :D

FRUMMER,

I am glad that you are able to surf to Istanbul Mehmet's website. Am I the only one not being able to surf there?

Istanbul Mehmet and Istanbul Agop are 2 different cymbal making companies that still have the trademark of hand making all the cymbals. Like I said before, no one music company makes the best best best of the best products, because every one have their own sound.

Each one of us are drawn to our own kinda sounds, thus, its unfair to say this is bad, that one good. I have learnt that its all about our own personal preference, liking.

For example, when comes to hardwares i am all in for Yamaha hardwares! :) Due to past years of experiences with different makes and models of hardwares, Yamaha hardwares stands out (IMO) in terms of Durability & Ease of use. I do not get my fingers injured setting up the hardwares even b4 playing. I dun have to use pliers or resort to drumsticks to turn those wingnuts.

Now some of you may not agree to that, and that is fine. As long as you are comfortable and confident about using your equipments, you dun have to change much.

If anyone of you heard me say certain makes and model of hardwares are "not good", I apologise because its wrong to say that. Preferance is what I should have said. :)

TO ALL DISCUSSING ABOUT PEDALS,

i am using a Yamaha basic model kick pedal, either a FP7210 or FP8210. I have not really gotten to use double pedals yet. :)

I do not meddle much with the spring tension but i do meddle with the angle of the beater a little. So far I am comfortable playing it that way.

VIO,
I remember that I still owe you and those interested to find out how to upkeep and maintain their drumkits. Let's do that in another topic tread or something. I am not familiar with this forum thingy.

Hi GuitarLover,

Thanks for your encouragement. I have been and still am a customer, so I know how I would like to be treated and served.

Every one who across my path needs my honest and professionalism in helping them with their enquiries. I do not have it all, but will do the best of my ability, at the same time continue to learn and advance on so that i can turn back and help.

This is the least that I can do.

:D

I went to DRMP today and wow, really incredible store... what's most incredible is Nigel's hospitality and top-notch customer service. :D

And the Istanbul cymbals are MADNESS. Oh my god.

Hey Nigel,

Have been meaning to come by your store again. Very busy lah!

Has anyone out there heard of Axis Pedals? They're quite killer. Nigel, which brand of pedals were you gonna bring?

Also very glad that you are bringing in the Istanbul's.

Sigh, with all this fun gear and drum community-building, I wish I had the money to invest in your business. hahaha!

Beboptang (aka Audrey)

hey nigel,

i been to your shop once but i think your showcase for istanbuls arent complete yet.

so i was just wondering, is it possible for us to try those cymbals. i really wonder how they sound like. they look awesome though.haha...

thx nigel!

BeBoptang!

Good to hear from you and I am still enjoying the flowers you brought that brightened the place. Though most have withered but the orchids are still ok.

2 years ago I heard and knew that Axis Pedals are very happening, I have tried to request to bring in Axis Pedals before but they told me to wait. So next year January I will try again.

You in your own small ways can also contribute to the building of this community. Will you be interested to be involved in any of my upcoming workshops? Call me and lets discuss.

Just a teaser, the first one will be a Basic Drum Miking Technique workshop in November, Computer Drum Sequencing & playing on top of it, not the actual title though. hehehe :D

Frummer,

Hiya! Thanks for coming by. Currently I have in stock the Istanbul Mehmet Box sets and also the whole traditional series, with different models and the more common sizes. I am supposed to hang them up on the wall racks, however the cymbal arm holders are not in yet.

Despite of this, the traditional series are moving fast. Yes, of course you can try the cymbals piece by piece. This is the selection process i lead any drummers looking to buy cymbals. If you have your own drums already, and just buy a few pieces, i suggest you bring down your set of cymabls to match.

:D

Hey Nigel!

Those workshops sound like a great idea! Ya I wanna know about playing over loops and sequences etc... I bought my Korg Electribe ES 1 mkII and hardly use it for gigs. Ya drum miking also very cool. My friend Jon Koh, whom I play with at church has a great way of eq-ing my bass drum using an SM58!! He says it's all about identifying the frequency to cut. Hmmm... keep me posted about the workshops ya? Thanks.

Beboptang

Hi Beboptang!

Great! I will update all when the details are out and ready. By the way, would you be willing to play for any of the workshops?

:D

Wired,

Hiya, yes i have made contact to bring in the Wuhans but i need time. Probably by early next year. So sorry for the delay.

:)

Haha, nah, no problem about that. The Wuhans are worth the longest wait.

Oh yes, Nigel, I remember seeing that you have the Puresound snare wires and S-hoop drum rims stocked... so, yeah, are you intending to bring in misc hardware like lugs and snare strainers?

Wired,

Yup, i am delighted to deal with spare parts. Though there are thousand and one kinda parts, i cannot possibly bring in everything. But i do have, some lugs, strainers, tension rods, claws etc ..... not displayed yet.

I will be working hard to bring in more parts. Let baby DRMP time to grow and mature .... :D

Come to me with whatever problem you have, I will try my best to solve them for you.

I enjoy working on snare drums too, if you have a problematic snare drum, let me take a look at it. Charges for snare works applies. :)
