Need help on guitar gear!

Hmmm i dunno man is MIM frm back den gd?? Its not ori floyd 4 sure... But floyd can chage rite... So is it worth it???

haha lets see US$2000 would be arnd S$4k plus? any idea how much is davis or guitar77 selling it for?

btw am i seeing things or does the M-IIs only have 1 knob??

Gotta let some Fender experts comment on it. I dunno.. I know back then, for Ibanez, not MIJ = not worth your dough.

Get a good guitar man, having a rocking floyd rose lah, doesn't turn a piece of deadwood into a spectacular tone machine. Justs makes it a well oiled machine, if you know what I mean.

eh mero prelims over already ar? haha i'm dying!

Haha yeah today just over..... had 9 hours of essay writing this week alone. 8O

The sambora strat is MIM, the floyd's not very good according to internet reviews... The neck is not the sambora signature type, it's a regular strat neck, with dot inlays instead of the actual star ones (the MIM sambora doesn't have the higher-end neck). Dimarzio PAF Pro in bridge, other singlecoils are not anything special.

I'd look for something with a better trem if I were you....

Thx man.... Hmmm maybe i get a Sa260 wat u guys tink or maybe an RG321 or RG 350dx and change da pups... Any pple lettin go theirs hehe....
Any idea wat pups r recommendable.... (bearin in mind i want a gd versatile single coil n humbucker tone)

hey sorry to mislead u nkubi87. i quoted u the webby to show u the guitars and the specs not the price. the price I quoted was in singapore dollars as i just recently was at davis and saw the guitar. 2k isnt a great deal of cash so id say, if u really want it den save up like mad or work like hell rather than go for something which doesnt match up to what u want.

hey its ok. but how come the mIIs only have 1 knob? oh ya the ltd m-1000 also has emgs w/ original FR, which brings me to another point.

is FR the most reliable bridge to do whammy stuff compared to other brands? like the strings won't go out of tune easily?

Depends on the guitar that you get. The SA260 has a S/S/H configuration, so you can just chuck aftermarket singlecoils in there. The RG321 is a H/H, RG350DX is a H/S/H. So for the RG321 you'll have to coilsplit one of the humbuckers if you want a singlecoil-style sound.

I'm not well-versed in FR-equipped guitars so I can't say much about that.....

Basically you have to ask yourself, whether you just want a clean channel on the amp to function as an empty canvas, using your effects primarily for drive, or you want to use the onboard distortion as a base to add on to.

Personally, I own the Cube 30, and from my experience, it's more of a jack-of-all-trades. The main feature that would induce people to buy it would be the number of amp models and provision of basic effects, making it quite a versatile unit which can deliver a number of tones decently. Certainly, the Cube can handle heavier sounds, it has a Mesa Rectifier model as well as a few other high gain amp models.

Judging from your music, you'd probably want a high gain distortion unit. Again I'm not a owner or user of any such pedals so I think it's best left to those who are more familiar with these effects. Several suggestions have been made earlier in the thread and I'd recommend that you try out the different options before you decide on your purchase.

hey mero, how does the cube30 blend with your effects?

By the way, on the issue of what is good Flyod roses or bad Flyod roses, how do you tell whether a Flyod rose is good, say if you don't have prior knowledge of it's origin and whatsoever. It's easy to say FRs like lopro..edgepro..edgeproII are good but what about others? maybe the only way to find out is to play and abuse? hahah..

well to answer ur question abt why there isnt any tone knob well some guitars r designed that way to let the pickups sorta shine through. this is done but not having any tone knob. reason to this is that the tone knob itself is a variable load of sorts and darkens a pickups tone. so a pickup would sound brighter without one and one example of a user of this would be paul gilbert. his signature pgm301 doesnt have any tone knob. anyway i find the tone knob useless to most unless they like to do rolling back on the knobs to get this throaty blues thing or just to have clean up on the sound. i do rolling off but only on the volume knob. maybe once in a blue moon den ill touch the tone knob ahahah.

oh yes, i forgot to add. for questions on floyd u gotta consult the resident floyd expert shredcow. i dun use floyds and a guitar with a floyd in my hands might end up as firewood really quick or get sold without me batting an eyelid. well thats wat happened to my rg1527. or i just glue a slab of wood to block it.

shredcow, your presence is required!

Actually, for Ibanez, you don't have to worry about coil splitting on the RG series.

The RG321, despite having H-H config, has a 5 way switch, and believe me, the ibanez 5 way switching for H-H is DAMN GOOD.

You get pseudo split tones EASILY. Without hum. :D

So I would dare say, no need for coil split.

dwarfstars: if you mean how well my external effect pedals react with the Cube, then I'd say it's decent, but definitely not on the same level as a amp with good cleans. I always had the opinion that the Cube's cleans are a bit too sterile. Then again others may have a different perception of it, for me I rarely use my pedals with the cube since i only use it for practice so the onboard effects and drive are enough for me
