hey guys....i own a schecter c-1 hellraiser...and it neck dives...so much so, that i cant play my guitar normally...the body feels lighter than the neck, which is unusual, because the body is supposedly made from mahogany...

so i have 2 questions...firstly, im wondering if any of you out there are hellraiser owners and have the same problem...

also, is there any way to fix the neck diving? thanks for your help....

a strat shaped guitar neck diving? thats news to me

by god that just defies the laws of physics

yeah, thats what i was thinking

ALSO "StrapLOCKS" DO NOT solve neck diving problems, you dont know what your talking about, they only make sure that your Strap does not come up off the Strap pins.

Mahagony bodies are supposed to be heavier than the Necks and the way the pins are placed like Strats are almost impossible to Neck dive.

But you can always get a wider strap with a leather backing (hairy) that grips onto your shirt~

OR

You can always use counter weights... SG's Dont neck dive~

yeah...use counter weights. or u can buy those cheap2 fishing weights.
it will balance the body

well guys...ive just been playing for the last couple of hours...and i think its because the strap im using is really slippery...i think a leather strap will help by giving more friction, so it doesnt slip...

thanks alot for your help guys...peace out!!

neck dive is normal for guitars with heavier neck. changing the strap or the installing straplok doesn't really solve the problem.

try using a strap with heavier friction and leave the guitar to hang... ultimately, it will still dive... worse is if the friction is too gre8 and it drags ur expensive tees or shirts along with it and destroy ur top...

installing straplok is only to ensure that ur strap dun come off when u do xtreme actions.. ur shoulder is still the ultimate center for the balance. think of a pulley system - if the neck (in this case, the front) is heavier than the body (the back of the strap), the guitar will still dive in a forward manner.

i personally don't know how to solve it, considering that i've used a Gibby SG Special before.. just hold the neck and play. If u dun wanna play it, put it down to rest, simple :)

yes, a leather strap would definitely work.

try the ones from Levy's. Cheap and good. Davis sells them.

leather straps work! cos the bottom part of the strap doe give u alot of grip and it grips onto ur shirt well. try it out

yea quite true, i hate it when u have to go to the lower notes and have to pull up the whole neck. my viper copy is giving me that problem lol.

SG's Dont neck dive~

1) It worked for me.
2) Which SG doesn't neck dive dude? SG's are the number one suckers to neck dive.. Especially for the 61' reissue and the Epiphone G400.. The body is much more heavier than other Standards/Specials.. Plus the position of the straps just makes sure it neck dives, hence the reason Iommi's SG had the strap lock pin replaced at the horn of the SG, rather than at the back..

As mentioned in Sub's review of the G400:
if we are familiar with a typical Gibson SG, the neck dive issue should be an acknowledged eccentricity by now...

Leather straps do help abit.

If it really is a prob, just sell/trade the guitar.

Some of the better balanced bodies:
strat, tele, les paul, steinberger (its headless!) guitars, parker guitars, ibanez rg/s series

Theres a reason why some of these shapes are classics

Well next time b4 u buy the guitar strap it up first!!!

1: I dont see how LOCKING the straps to the buttons will help the neck diving issue at all. its the Strap thats the concern not the Strap slipping off the Strap buttons. I dont know what kinda strap your using, im refering to straploks like the ones from DiMarzio which are also Nylon straps as compared to the Regular straps that most people use

2: i dont know what kinda SG you play but mine does not, as far as it is in an upright position it where it's s'pposed to be? it doesn faceplant itself, unless its already more than half down then it will dive on its own~

also it depends on the height you have it at i guess?

I've had 2 types of explorers before~ the Epiphone and the LTD.

NOW

the Gothic epiphone is SUPPOSDLY made out of Mahagony for the body with a set neck and it DIVED the Shyt so much that i could hardly play it.

then i got the LTD and its made of like what? Agathis? and a bolt on neck, the VERY first time i strapped it on, the neck dive was not even half as bad as the Epiphone...

so i switched the strap to the back and its perfect now. Nylon strap. waist heigt, perfect.

So all im saying is. it pretty much varies on the guitar that you've got, not all woods are in Equal weight even if its the same breed or " as Specifications "
