My gig experience @ Gas Haus

food!

Yes, we got food at the gashaus, breako/burgerking price levels... just ask for a menu at the counter!

i dunno if u guys have ever experienced this. my bands has played 2 gigs so far at gashaus. on both occasions our set gt cut short. we were suppose to play for 30mins. bt when we were like 15-18mins into our set, the soundman said we could play one more song. so our set only lasted for like 20mins. n its kinda irritating. i mean, if my band sucked, n u want to cut short out set is ok lah. bt the crouwd was LOVING it. so why cut us short??? we could play like 3 more songs in that 10mins man.

Hi Sham, did u guys take very long to do the set up?

If yes, that's probably the reason why your set is being cut off.

If no, I'm terribly sorry for it.

However I'll make sure U guys play your full 30mins set for the upcoming Music Mania 5. But u guys must make sure that u guys ba quick on the setup ok

Thanks & look forward to your set once more! :D

relax reckless-sham....my band experienced tat situation also.....we had planned to play 5 songs but in the end only 4.....i think due to time contraints coz it kinda started late at 4pm....Mixed up of the timeslots....
but the soundman was nice man.....i did ask for extra cymbals to be added to the drumset but he explained the situation and i said it's ok and thanx....he is a nice guy....give him a break.....chill guys.....most importantly u all had fun.....i did!!! 8)

no roy, we took like 30 secs to set up. im serious. we didnt use any pedals or anyth. nt even for the guitar. i play bass, n just had to plug in, i had nth to adjust since there wasnt a bass amp. nick did his adjusting of the tone n stuff real quick. n we were set to play. we play really short songs, each one abt 2 mins. so we planned to play like 11 songs. bt in the end we only did like 6.
bt yea, the soundman was ok lah.

YEP WE HAD FUN!!! especiall our last song, 'unknown soldier'. the crowd was awesome. nt many ppl were there cos it was kinda late. bt it was cool.

reckless-sham

try this, after your set up, announce to the crowd thru the mic that you're performing *insert number of songs here* and you guys will "atempt" to play it as fast as possible. *nods* well it kinda worked for my band, we didnt get our slot cut short.

LOL the soundman.

He's a little too serious. I was doing a really short and zero-effort warm up arpeggio before our performance yesterday and he was like "you've gotta work on that man..." plus a what-kind-of-vox-is-this expression.

Ohwell, haha. Maybe he was pissed off that I grazed the mic for the drums.

ok picture this...the gig was suppose to start at 2pm rite....in the end we waited till 4....so it's quite a rush lah.....some timeslots were mixed up.....tats y some bands have to play lesser songs giving the rest of the bands time to perform as well.....and i did saw reckless landing setting up quite fast....and the songs were fast....haha....same as my band.....
as i said before the important thing is to have fun!!! yeaaa!!!

one more thing....anybody saw my guitarist guitar bag????

lol, no offense to anybody here, but ive gotta really consider hard if my band leader ever gets a gig at gashaus again. in my opinion, its jus not a place to gig at, the people, the attitude, the set-up, the stage. the only thing right was the audience who tried making the gig better.

in my opinion, its jus the worst place to gig at, and that was the first and last time im ever gonna gig at gashaus. wad do you guys think?

apa sahaja.

7 pound vein got the perfect sound on the 24th nov @ gashaus.
outfall darkness gig.
they got their tone close to killswitch engage.
i got my sound right.
in fact.most of the bands got their sound right.
so wats up with the cock up thingy.?
gas haus is on top.right there.one of the place to gig.
the soundman is friendly.he's kind.yeah.he's ang moh.
all of them is ang moh infact.(the soundman).
maybe u are inexperience.
i guess so lah.
haha.

k just because your band had a bad experience gigging there. theres no need to shoot people with your criticism. maybe it was your lack of preparation that got you in the so called mess. before gigging there, go to an earlier show. notice whatever a musician should notice and do your homework about the sound system there.
alot of bands complain that the sound there sucks etc, like that, leave the gig then get a better one with a better venue. i mean theres plenty of gigs nowadays although majority of them are at gas haus i suppose so why not join those other gigs.

and if you don't like the sound when you're performing etc, you could always stop to tell the soundman the improvements you needed. no use blasting away in forums when it couldve been solved then and there.

cheers
