Vent holes are a good idea, I'll keep that in mind. It's actually possible to pump 9V into 18V. Godlyke has done it with their power pump:

I have one of those It works very well! I'm actually pushing my Fulltone Bass-Drive to 24v with it and it's been running fine so far.
