Music trends among teens

I guess it is quite obvious that recently there's a steep rise in music trends towards K-pop music. A lot of the teens nowdays are really into Korean boybands and girlbands like Wonder Girls, FT Island, Super Junior etc...

Do you think that that is a popular growing trend among local teens?

Are local teens more into Western music pop scene (like Lady Gaga) or towards Asian music scene?
 
I think teens who are likely to accept Kpop. Older group stand stick to ang mo songs. But see sistic website, SNSD and DBSK are the sought after one.

I love SNSD,Kara,T-ara,4minute,Wondergirls.
 
Music trends are all based on majority + looks factor.

When one sees all his/her friends listening to Kpop, one will most likely get influenced as well.

And secondly those Kpop ppl all have good looks which is def a plus.

Lady Gaga songs are catchy though I hate to admit, but I'm never a fan of the pop scene.
 
I get a sense of deja vu in regards to the topic.

Well I think basically there some who likes bubblegums& those who like wrigley's.

Of course there are the pockets who prefer sugar-free.

With teens, usually it's eye-candy that matters ( doesn't apply throughout though ). They won't get for example, a Pink Floyd unless PInk Floyd looks like Rico Suave or NSync.

So I guess most times trends aint about the aural, it ends up being about the visuals.
 
My friends who are all ang mo Pai( english group) also started listening to k-pop. Some songs are nice la, but i dont really like k-pop.

So many korean boy girl band come up recently.Its like wth so many bands, those korean people so hungry for fame ah, all want to become stars. Then the korean entertainment industry are becoming very monotonous.
 
nah, not a big fan of the pop group as personally i see music as instruments or intruments together with vocals imho. now, thats what i calll music!
 
I feel Music now is no more like music back in the 90s where they were just pure and raw. Now i think mostly go for looks, appeal and catchy-ness. I bet once the K-POP bands die(go underground back) their fans also "die".
 
yea the kpop thing is really exploding. most of my friends are being swept by the waves so i was quite curious and eventually got influenced as well...and some of them are actually pretty nice and catchy! gotta admit it's sort of a guilty pleasure. :b

and I'm not usually the type that would give this sort of music a listen in the past...but by giving it a chance, it made me a little more open-minded and accepting of things that i'm unfamiliar/was biased against. So i guess most trends probably spread through friends' influences.
 
Sigh, I'm 16, but I'm more western influenced, so I support Ang Mor? Favourite genre still rock mainly metal or screamo, never like the pop, R&B, rap etc. Rock on all the way!!!
 
Aiya, what I think is mostly cos of looks lah. I see some of my friends like FT Island, Fahrenheit, Super Junior, all those K or J pop girl group/boy bands, you always hear them exclaiming how hot they are. You rarely hear them say 'omg what talented musicians'.

That time I watch TV also ma. They say they use these kind of goodlooking people for money one. Cos good looks alot girls will like ma. The first example of such a band is Boyzone or NSync, cannot remember alr.
