Music culture in JCs?

hehe, i wont deny not will i admit. Iam who you think i am/iam not.

If thats me and people think its me, then it will be me. If thats me and people think that its not me, then it wont be me

Me, is a mindset, a series of frequencies, a body, a torso, a blank paper

no lah bro, dont misunderstood

i last time fail england one, so only know how to go round the world, but not understanding yes or no coz simplicity doesnt exist in me

I have to agree with you on that. I may not know the most appropriate answer to your real question, but do you think school invasion tours are enough? Currently, many ppl from my side have expressed interest in forming a band. Some have taken a start, others are like neither here nor there.

well there were girls in vj i know who are into metal... brutal slayer kind not avenged sevenfold kinda crap.

i was from cj and i have to say when i was in i saw the transition from the clubbing craze to the emo/indie/whatever craze. in j1 everyone was club club club club. but things started to change when i was in j2.

haha i'm a cj j3, when i was there, there were good bands..but i'm not sure about the metalheads..i know there were a few in my batch though. but out of 800? yeah quite a teeeeny tiny proportion.

I'm J2, still stuck under BP. There are very very very few metalheads around in cj, and trying to bring metalheads together in anything other than a metal gig is like trying to herd cats.

heh, half the people left the auditorium when the organizers were setting up the band equipment after the singing competition for aj idol. guess in aj, most people prefer chinese pop.

from my knowledge:

Of all the JCs I think CJC has the best history of producing good musicians. The Sexies, Her Liquor. These guys tend to be the most "qualified", alot of classically trained pianists and vocalists, church musicians, and can do good stuff with harmony. Their annual Rockafella gig is well organized and handled with good sound and good bands.

RJC has a pretty decent music culture, they have a Rock CCA and a Jazz CCA, and they're home to bands like Triad. It's quite all rounded.

Schools like TJC, VJC and TPJC all have their musicians and they also have alot of supporters. There are some stellar quality musicians here and there and there are also alot of people who just start picking up instruments, but the culture and support is good stuff.

Not too sure about other JCs. I remember NYJC was having some sort of Idol-esque competition when I was there for PAE, but I think almost every JC does this nowadays?

I think IJC has some serious metalheads in there. Some of the VS metalheads went on to VJC and MJC too.

Just my rough idea, I might be wrong!

BP is the MAN!

He scared the shit out of me when he came up behind me and said hello for no reason.

does it really matter what kind of music you listen to? why can't i listen to slayer and still enjoy the beatles? why can't i play in a thrash band and still listen to mika?

and so what if the rest of the people in your jc dont listen to some little band that you listen to? sure, it sucks that you can't talk about music with them. but music is a personal experience, so who cares what they derive from their music? no matter how crappy your perceive it to be.

i was in AJ for first intake.everyday my classmates would play chinese music in class and sing along.felt damn weird.lucky i found a friend who is a crazy Dream Theater fan who has just about every album.salvation!!

...

really off topic, and i'd high likely be flamed, but it's quite disappointing to see how some of you can see music in such a shallow way.

it's as good as shoving the kind of music you like down people's throats without offering them an option or alternative. they like what they listen to, let them be la.

gravy for you if you find people with similar interests. otherwise, there's no need to avoid mando-pop (in the context of this thread) like it's a plague. save yourself and the world of hate-o-rade ya.

Hey great stuff here. Thanks for the information. My school has a lot of cliques. Most cliques click themselves to Chis Brown and Sean Kingston. I know one or two cliques listen to metal. Oh yea there are ppl who still listen to westlife, backstreetboys..... I listen to all kinds of band music and some of my frens do. Others in my school listen to christian music and stuff...yea

cj ftw! okay so being stuck under BP may not be the best thing, but he's cool enough to support rockafella (some council pride here, haha)!
