Whoa Joseph! Calm down, sir! You play guitar in Marchtwelve don't you? I've been to several of your gigs, support your band and like your music, so I think it's a shame that you'd say this to me, and with such a condescending attitude.
Yes, of course I know what I said. Do you? At no point did I say anything about aggressive competition. You seem to imply that I'm saying "nyeh nyeh, ABC band is better than XYZ band." Well, I'm a big Firebrands supporter- I have been to many of their shows, bought their CD and some of their merchandise. I have alot of respect for Impiety for their achievements, and I go to plenty of local gigs and buy local CDs and merchandise.
I am being completely objective when I said what I did about Astroninja- if you check out their MySpace, you will see that their marketing strategy is starting to pay off big dividends in the international market, and the last time I dropped by their site, they had thousands of song plays that day. It is a clear and observable trend that their profile views are going up at a massive rate.
What was my intended message? That we can all learn alot from this. One of our local bands has chosen to look outside the confines of our local community and sell themselves to an international market- and the success is showing!
Oh, and where does humility come into the picture? Funny, I don't think I mentioned anything about myself, neither has anybody from Astroninja. Am I lacking in humility if I state that Facebook is going to be more popular than MySpace, judging from the rising usership? Your statement, sir, has no credibility.
If you want to talk about competition, sir, then allow me to challenge your limited and narrow-minded perspective. Competition is good, it's healthy, and it encourages us to work harder and more efficiently. Economists have proven this, and our own government stands strongly by this. Even a 'boy' like me can understand that healthy competition makes for a healthy collective growth of the scene.
Cheers,
Visa.
