The difference between Dave Teo and Mas Selamat was that Dave Teo was spotted at Cineleisure and the police took the tip and managed to catch him there. In Mas Selamat's case, they didn't even realise he was gone until he didn't return from the toilet. So obviously, the two cases are quite different if you want to compare the time taken to catch him.

That said, Mas Selamat is wayyyy smarter than Dave Teo for being suspected of running into the jungle (we all know no one likes jungles), as opposed to running into a busy cineplex.
