U guys seen the ad above from Sound Alchemy? I went to their site and saw this Reanimation mod for the MT2 (Metalzone). Has anyone modded thier MT2s? Care to share the experience? Like, the pros and cons? Help appreciated. Thanks.

kfchicken - mod is 35bux...

velvet revolver - seekz stated that he removed the inherent mids...
so,with the reanimation mod it has more clarity and the sound comes out...
compared to the stock sound, its compressed...
BUT...when i compare both sounds, the stock mode sounds heavier than the
modded sound...well,at least to my ears...
so i hook up a eq pedal after the mt2 and it sounds great now...liking it...

for me the reanimation mod is all about clarity...
i have a line 6 uber metal also but to me you just cant compare these 2..
every pedal has characterisrics of their own...

oh,and its less fizzy now..
well, actually i dun mind the fizziness of the stock sound...its ok 2 me...

best thing is if u dun like the modded sound, there's a switch to toggle
between the stock sound and the reanimation sound...
whoa!!long post but hope this helps bro...

^ thanks man! appreciate it! thing is, i work sooo damn near to sound alchemy but just cant find time to go see them! arrgh... ya, saw on their site u can toggle between the modded sound and the stock sound using a switch. that's kinda cool eh. :D

Just a little correction:

The mod is to restore the lack of low - mids.
Something that even the parametric EQ cannot add back
in the stock mode. Thats why it sounds much ballsier.
In any case, you can still cut out the mids with the EQ
after the mod and still get a thicker dist sound. But it'll
not be possible to get that thicker sound by adding mids
in the stock mod. Try it and you'll hear the difference.

The stock mode is also very compressed and saturated.
Just play an open D chord and you'll hear a fizzy pitch,
(in D no doubt). Would be good if you're playing only
power chords. But in the reanimated mode, an open D
chord will yield dist sounds clearly from all the strings.

Best of all, if you need either sounds, its just a toggle
switch away.

Im using one right now..

The stock mt2 has no ballz. Seriously.

The mod as mdm fox has mentioned brings it back to what it should originally be.

My other guitarist was using one as far as i remember....much clearer with more mids and clarity. His solos cut through better compared to last time....stock i remembered was really horrible at high volumes, sounded like white noise+ a can of bees hitting a metal tin.

He has decided to retire the pedal though since he has acquired a mxr doubleshot distortion....which sounds more natural and feels better for solos than any metalzone, modded or stock imo.

So far only the Keeley DS-1 mod details are available online.
Thats why there's so many "self-modded" DS-1s are in circulation
I haven't seen the Keeley MT-2 one before, so my mod is my own.

Some credit goes to Luqman from (used to) Blackwoods,
for lending me his ear and critic in the early stages of the
mod development.

really?? i had very bad impressions of the doubleshot dist. i tried it and it sounded like any other cheap distortion pedal.

Maybe you got a bad one? which channel did you use. the one with the slight tinge of fuzz is quite unusable imo....It depends on how you tweak it and also what amp you are using with it.

I find the doubleshot has more clarity for solos.....we played at an audition for a jam and hop gig in tp the other day and his sound really kicked ass...blended very well with my seventheaven i must say.

Not a good idea to demean other peoples' choice of gear. There is no disputing taste, and what works for him may not work for you. E.g. certain drive boxes sound absolutely horrible due to the treble on the AC30, but does this does mean that either the pedal or the amp is LOUSY?

At the end of the day, we are in pursuit of personal tonal nirvana. However, if one's tone is extremely 'off' and your bandmates and the soundman are telling you so, perhaps he should rethink his concept of 'tone'.

Beyond that, however, we have to respect each others' preferences/choices/tone/budget. Your Toneczar Dove (or other boutique top dollar effect) may be the best to your ears, but not everyone can afford it :p

eh dun swerve the topic to another direction leh... i started this thread to gather opinions on the reanimation mod.. dont go and say one another's choices or preferences la.. cheers!
