METAL: Bands you've recently HEARD and would like to RECOMMEND

I find myself going for Mastodon, Antestor and Behemoth.

I agree with Mastodon and Behemoth.

But I only find Behemoth's Demigod really fantastic. Is Demigod considered as their recent works? Hmmm. Mastodon is a crazy kick ass band!

Their early works is more on the Black Metal side, and their recent work is more of death metal like their neigbouring band Vader, But still Demigod is a masterpiece!

Behemoth is seriously a great band. I find Demigod really good and fantastic. Their earlier works like Satanica were good too.

Thelema 6 and Zos Kia Cvltvs also power lah. Check out the drumming on thelema 6. its insane! and demigod is not their recent work. It is The Apostasy. Decent album i must say. Insane technicality but its not as memorable as Demigod.

for those of you who like tech/melodic death, orgone is excellent. lyrically, musically, emotionally sophisticated, and they don't have that problematic lack of songwriting skills which many tech death bands suffer from.

hmmm sonata arctica's good, so is dream theater (though they came to town this year already), there's also arch enemy and of course kamelot. btw anyone heard of tristania? on the verge of industrial or electronic, but still very melodic metal.
