Hey all,

Just wanted to find out if people here would like to get mesa boogie amps..

Just doing some interest checks so I can find out perhaps to do an MO or get some pieces in for people..

Everyone knows they're one of the best brands around but so difficult to get over here.. and I'm sure people'd wanna get to own one won't they? heh

yeah I thought of perhaps going through them or something..

do they have most models available? I know they do quite alot of consignments so I don't know which they consign and which they sell as a dealer!!!

they're all under consignment or for rent afaik

would like to try a Mark V

if you'r interested in mesas you can try pming Pedal-itis, i think his single and dual rect is up for sale.

blackwood has the mesa dual rect too if you wanna head over to test.

The Express 5:50 is a really good sounding amp. I wish there was one here locally I could A/B with my F-50 - I've only heard the 5:50 overseas, and while it sounded great clean, I thought my F-50 sounded a bit better in terms of clarity and vibe (then again I'm using NOS tubes and have swapped the 12AX7s out to lower gain 5751s).

The 5:50's drive on channel 2 smokes the F-50's any day. I would be quite interested in upgrading to a 5:50 if it came in local voltage and I could ascertain that the clean channel would be at least on par with the F-50's which to me was the nicest clean Mesa tone I'd heard till the Lonestar came around.

looking for a mark IV or a mark IIc+

heres wat i have:
Tremoverb (local voltage)
early 90's blackface dual rectifier
V-Twin pedal
recto 2x12 cab

Interested in the Stiletto or the Lonestar, but with the responsibilities of settling down it'll be an extra long wait before I get to taste any of these amps.

This has somehow become a Mesa owner's thread...

I'ma soon to be a Mesa owner as well. Can't wait.

The problem with step up /down transformers is they affect the amp's tone. Many people have noted a less satisfactory sound when using such transformers. As such it's preferable to use the right voltage as was intended by the manufacturer.

Also, if you are not careful and your amp is used in a studio or at live gigs, there's a possibility of a someone forgetting or not realising the difference in voltage and inadvertently frying it.

Some earlier Mesa Boogies had an internal regulator and a voltage switch. One big reason they don't now is to try to preserve the territorial-specific distribution rights. Something like a primitive form of DVD region codes.

That's cool! Guess it depends on how the tone changes, and what kind applications you're using the amp for. Personally I've never done an A/B myself of the same model but local voltage vs with transformer, but I'd be curious to hear what any real differences may be, if at all.
