Melodic Death Metal

LONG LIVE MELODEATH!

Personally, my favourite melodeath bands are At The Gate, Norther, Arch Enemy and Dark Tranquillity. I think In Flames's Whoracle, At The Gate's Slaughter of The Soul, Dark Tranquillity's Character, COB's Hate Crew Deathroll are classics!

It's amazing that DT took years to come out with a smash, especially at this age of commercialized music where metal is not even spared.

That's the most amazing thing about Character. Likewise, Fiction hasn't really failed.

Without Slaughter of The Soul, I don't think melodeath will be such a hit. At The Gate are definitely genius!

The Project Hate MCMXCIX - Uses industrial and also an awesome female vocalist, far from gothic metal...
Swallow The Sun, Satariel, Novembers Doom, Draconian - Though considered Doom metal, these bands does have strong melodic death influence.
Eluveitie - Dubbed the new wave of Folk Metal, this band surely knows how to use Folk metal with melodic death metal.

haha i have pretty loose definition for melodeath. straight-up death to me will be bands like hate eternal i think. blast beats all the way lol

The Gallery is a good album. Punish My Heavens is such a catchy song! But I think Character deserves more credit than The Gallery!

Truth is, I used to be such a dickhead trying to prove that i know metal alot a few years back in this forum, and well, got bashed. So brushed up and listen to what 'real' metal is. But i did also learn that, it's no use comparing what you know, cos ultimately, there's someone out there who knows more than what you do.
So safest way, keep your mouth shut and recommend.
