Melodic Death Metal

Well, missing out Sentenced and Carcass. :D

lol sentenced later works are like just pure melodic metal. but still love their style, esp their last album, the funeral album.

kalmah, norther and eternal tears of sorrow are all very good (if not better) substitutes for children of bodom.

btw, im optisailor2002 on the mindef forums as well haha.

If you like Polish death metal, Vader could be for you.

Aye, I actually like Finnish death metal a lot. Kalmah, COB, Norther are already good enough to blow me off. :D I like COB's wild style, Norther's emotional approach and Kalmah's technicality. :D Special things about Finnish melodeath.

lol vader can hardly be considered "melodic" death metal right. havent really heard their stuff, but behemoth's a good band. if you like behemoth, can try dies irae as well. their style is similar to behemoth's.

From what i read, and coming to agree with it, the Swedes were the first to begin with when it comes to MDM.
The rise of MDM in Finland started after 1995, when Norther, COB and Kalmah began known to the world.

Think i recommended Tracedawn and Whispered from Finland.

Whispered is kinda unique, fusing oriental sounds to melodic death. Dubbed themselves as 'Samurai Metal'... Lol!

Revived.
Still can't get enough of MDM. Always looking out for unheard bands.

Here's some that i've found and enjoyed.

Icewind Blast - Russia
Be'Lakor - Australia
Blind Stare - Finland
Ivenberg - Germany
Mordium - USA
Wulfgar - Sweden <---- you'll love them if you enjoy Amon Amarth

Talking about Sentenced, in case you guys didn't know...

The original vocalist and guitarist of Sentenced, Miika Tenkula, passed away yesterday 19th Feb.. He was 35. Was quite shocking when I heard the news..

R.I.P Miika! You'll be missed...

Yeah, that's sad.
He was probably the reason for Sentenced becoming a popular band in Finland...
