Wow, I didn't know so many people talking about me! haha.
Sorry to all sellers if they get annoyed by my asking for lower than asking price.
But in mitigation: if you don't want to get hit by the lowball, don't play football.
Haggling is part and parcel of doing good business practice. D Trump's ethos: always ask the seller "is that the best you can do?" Seven immortal words to live by, if you ask me.
Here's the thing for buyers: Any smart buyer would never pay asking price unless absolutely necessary. And never more than what they're willing to pay for. If the seller's price is too high, but on the offchance that he'll change his mind and reduce meet their price, buyers will always haggle/ask for discount/lowball whatever you want to call it. What's the worst that can happen? The seller disagrees. That's all.
Sellers: You are the guys dictating the terms and conditions, NOT the potential buyers. So if you don't want to go low, tell the lowballers - NO, SORRY. Finish. No need to get worked up about them. Look for people willing to meet your price.
If you can't sell at that price, THEN think about lowering your price, or give a better package? EG: buy guitar, throw in capo, strap, cable, DI Box all for the same cool price of $XX.
Another Trumpism: Cover your bases. Don't put all your eggs into one basket, you know? You'll only get upset yourself when things go wrong.
btw, I always start off asking for 50 percent discount! hee!
