Loudness or X Japan ?

But u gotta have some skill before u can write a song right? I think songwriting wins over skills too but u cannot be too lousy, otherwise er...cannot compose well? thats my opinion.

in my opinion i dont find that skill is something that only people with special ability can do, who cannot play akira takasaki? who cannot play like michael angelo? paul girbert? steve vai? jimi hendrix? everyone can provided that you put up extra practice!

songwriting is different, you cannot write a song like beethoven does!

yoshiki is a good drummer, nobody played like "the way" he play, but i think most drummer out there can play like yoshiki, some are better. but yoshiki songwriting is incredible! he use a simple chords and note, but the way he arrange make it a very very incredible song to play.

maybe i am contradicting, but thats what i think.

I agree with you, but only to a certain extent.... While technical proficiency can be achieved by anyone through sheer hard work and dedication....there is a special breed of players who got to the highest level with more or less the same amount of practice as the average joe.... Virtuosos like Jason Becker, Shawn Lane, Michael Angelo, Akira Takasaki, Rusty Cooley, Francesco Fareri are so incredibly technical that it almost seems like they have an extra muscle in their hands. And bear in mind that they achieved that kind of proficiency at a very young age, say 20. I attribute this to natural talent. Natural talent also explains why some people have an inclination towards sprinting, or always do well in Mathematics for instance. People have different talents, and you are kidding yourself if you think that anyone can be like Rusty Cooley if he practiced hard enough.

if it so, then i find that no one can be better than Yoshiki, (yawn), on regards of your statements about Rusty Cooley

you are kidding yourself if you think that anyone can be like Rusty Cooley if he practiced hard enough.

rusty cooley aren't bach, mopzart or beethoven. someone out there definately cna be better than rusty cooley.

i agree...if we're not talking about the bach/mozart/beethoven out-of-the-world geniuses i think it is possible.

just like if you were to spend your whole life practising the Apassionata Sonata i'm sure u just might be able to play like..say..Paul Badura Skoda??

You fail to address the issue. Never once have I said that Rusty Cooley is the best, so where did you get that from?
My point is, anyone can practice, and attain a level of technical proficiency. But no matter how much the average joe practices, he can never reach the level of skill that the naturally talented among us can achieve. OF COURSE there might be someone who is more technical than Rusty Cooley, but that guy has to be DAMN naturally talented. We are restricted by our specific talents, not everyone can do well in sprinting, or Mathematics no matter how much he practices. To say that anyone can be like Shawn Lane as long as he practices his ass of is unrealistic. You get my point now?

rusty cooley is no near those who have natural talent rite? if yes, then i get your point. if im contradict then forget it.

arrghhh....you didn't get me again. I am saying that Cooley is one of those rare breed of players with natural talent, and someone without natural talent can never get to his level no matter how much he practices...... consider this discussion closed!

I would say that he has a special talent for composing...but I dunno about technique...
