hoohoo my neighbours actually said that the music that is played sounds very nice to them...they even opened their main door and there was a time i met one of them in the lift and she asked why we stopped playing...

but wad im nt fine with is..SOMETIMES THEY PLAY LIKE AS THO THEY'RE PLAYING THE SAME PIECE!!!

its like the piano guitar and drums are playing the same song as tho jamming together..

but..as a bassist..i had nth to contribute..tts my only gripe..bah. :evil:

Yo Guys I've called HDB and talk to a few officers but they told me there is no license for playing musical instrument and as long as we don't play too late at night it should be ok. It all boils down to neighbours. Either they live with it or they can shift hse ...lol ha ha ha

i guess on an ethics level. we're all nice "musician" ppl trying to live our passion. it's like trying to ban a chinese neighbour from cooking their islandwide famous Bak Kut Teh, and the smell goes next door to a malay neighbour's place.. so the most the chinese person can do is at least cook at a friend's place or speak to the malay neighbours nicely to pre-notice them. y'know what i'm sayin'.

i think if the police can't do much as long as we play at a "humane" timing , it doesn't give green light for us to abuse it. but it sure does give an advantage if one of us have an unreasonable neighbour that's "out to get us". (one of us = me.)

thought I'd wanna share with you guys on this, once I wacked drums (when I had them) at 2am before. no complains. then when a light hitting drummer recorded at 2pm. my neighbour upstairs did everything they could to stop me. (which is bullsh*t cos it's 2pm) sending letters/guards (i live in a condo)/ coming down personally to confront. but i guess he stopped and realised I mean no harm when one fine day I found his expensive handphone (what luck) and I returned to him leaving a note : "i may be noisy. but i'm honest."

I have a family downstairs that have a baby, but yet they do not complain. I agree with much of what blueprintstudios said, sometimes it's perception. Not everything is absolute, if you play really softly at 2pm, but your neighbour is trying to sleep or something, he will definitely be annoyed.

"Humane" timing is not just confined to the normal sleeping hours at night. Sometimes we should also talk to our neighbours and find out what time is really inconvenient for us to play our instruments?

Communication would build new bridges between individuals to prevent future misunderstandings.

yeap guys! tis true! you can play and your neighbours can really say much, but do not abuse that priviladge lah..

play within suited timings like say afternoons till evenings and try to stop after like 9.30 to be polite, im sure your neighbours will realise that your quite concious about making and effort to not irritate the hell out of them lah.

Play loud2 then got complain , still play loud2 then got 2nd complain , Dun care still play loud2 then burst into fire , Dun give a damn still play loud2 then Volcano eruption occurs , still play ... at last comes to peace cuz neighbour dun bother about me anymore ... thats what i experience man ... hahaha one of the few thousand methods to get ur neighbours stopped bothering about loud noise ...

got my first complaint today! hahaha

in all honesty i tried to be nice and ask him to work something out say like timing, coz i play from between 2pm to 7pm and after 7 i stop coz i dont wanna disturb people at night..

he told me to stop playing totally.. i wanted to tell him to shove my drumsticks up his ass and force it down his throte.. but of course i didnt

and so he says hes going to ask hdb. and so i said i already asked and i explained that i would like to work something out with you give me an alloted time to play.. but noooooooooo.. he says hes still going to complain. and asked me to continue playing i said ok lah, do what you will smiled then close my door..
