Lawsuit Guitars

Hi thor666,

Thanks for your input. When you said relatively well priced by the seller, you are referring to the $1300 quote that I was given for the Orville?

i have done some checks on ebay and after paying for shipping and not forgetting GST... it's about there.

yes. although strictly speaking u shouldn't consider shipping price :? but yeah, if you're really wanting to get one of his guitars, probably Orville would be a good buy. Burny stricty isn't vintage or anything (remember it's bascially Fernandes) , the Greco strat is imo simply too expensive unless it has some great stuff installed on it. no idea about Greco LPs thou... should be around that price.

Does Orville have their OWN site with a complete catalouge??

I;ve been trying to google it wiht Searches like " orville Guitars " with nothing.

So far i;ve only been able to find : J&D, Tokia, Aria, Fernandez

if anyone has these Links to Lawsuit companies PLEASE post them here !!!!

real lawsuit guitars come from the late 70s n earli 80s. They r reallu that gd that gibson n fender sued them. Tell me if thats not gd guitars!!! IN the end, fender bought over the factory that made greco if im rite n now its the MIJ fenders. Fenders in the 80s were very bad i heard.

Burny lawsuit gibson have the secret in their vh-1 pups, sounds as paf as can be. N is said to have the closest copy to the 59 pauls

rondoMusic does make some decent looking copies~ :)

any links to Orville though? if they still exist~

I'd say Heritage makes Les Pauls that are closest to the pre-1985 Gibson specs...if my research and what I've heard from experienced players are accurate. Heritage guitars are all hand-made to the orig specs, with only PLEK-ed frets for better intonation n fretwork. Basically, Heritage was started by the employees from the orig. Gibson factory in Kalamazoo, MI, which closed down in 1984 and moved out of Michigan.

It seems to be a less well-known brand ard this region, but it's huge in the USA. Just google and you'll see superb reviews on Heritage LPs.

Heritage LPs are also typically a fraction of the cost of a Gibson LP. Fine, so most other brand LPs are. Do check a Heritage out nonetheless. I think G77 brings a few in, and also has some used ones.

Just slightly above your budget I think...so maybe save up a lil!

well..i'm using a 1982 MIJ '57 reissue Greco Les Paul Custom that is amazing...tried by many...approved by many..definitely much better than the 1 sold at davis...some pics of it..most should have seen it..see the workmanship on it..

Hmm...thought I'll mention there are Ibanez LP lawsuit models as well. Really lawsuit cos you can only get them 2nd hand, obviously no more production. If you do find one, they have good workmanship and look quite similar to the right thing (like the custom model has the same diamond inlay) and MIJ.

However tonewise, it will probably be a mix between hollow and real lp because the body is not solid. At least mine has some cavities within the body, probably to reduce the weight. You could say it doesn't rank highly as a LP clone in that sense, but it is a good guitar nonetheless. Besides, an ibanez brand looks snazzier on the headstock :P.

i got about a number of orville they are very good, oh by the way there is no such thing as a made in korea orville. got a few friends in japan they were like laughing about it when i told them this

K doesnt stands for korea it stands for Kanda Shokai same company that produce the greco, if you ask any japanese collector they will tell you the same thing, the reason for k serial because it is 2 rival companies one use ink and the other uses sticker to different each others orville but both use japanese parts and of course african mahagony, the made in korea report is totally worng if you show any japanese collector that report they will laugh at it, but thats report commonly use by austrilians selling on ebay,

the real story is here

Hahaa! MIK Orvilles! And may i add that Greco WAS FORMERLY Fender Japan. They actually used to make Strats(not foprgetting LPs) exclusively for the Jap market until Fender came in and took over their Strat arm. That arm was relinquished to Fender USA and officially became Fender Japan. The LP arm still exists as Greco guitar and they still make LPs. Therefore, a Greco Strat wld prob be frm the pre-'80s era. Maybe if he lowered the price to around $750 it wld prob be more worth. Or else, a Fender H1 or a 60th Ann.
