Who have done the jimmy page wiring??

Hows the tone??

Is this diagram the Jimmy page wiring diagram??

For les pauls, we need to use Long shaft pots right??

And the grounding part means that we have to solder ALL the wires that need to be grounded together with the ground wire right?

THANKS!

diy before round 7/8 years back

cant remember, also geetar with it is long gone. Only thing i like is the amount of different pickup config

theres couple of website with jp lp wiring as well, for comparison sake, you can google around for the diagram and compare side by side. Do take note that the wiring might be slightly different from each other even though it might do the same thing(its normal btw)

For les pauls, we need to use Long shaft pots right??

that depends on whether the LP is a gibson or some other brand LP. For gibson, yes, need long shaft in general. For other brand, usual shaft length pot also can do. Another thing to take note is the size of hoe that the pot shaft fit through. Its not a standard size across all geetars. There are pots with thicker shaft and usually for push pull found in geetar shops here, the shaft is thinner(from cheapo push pull to $40 gibson push pull pot)

And the grounding part means that we have to solder ALL the wires that need to be grounded together with the ground wire

theres 2 ways to do it, one is to connect the ground, from one point to the other and so on till the last one at the output joint. The other, is to connect all ground to one point(some prefer this way and this way is known as star grounding in general electrical text)

anyway, if you attempt to do this wiring on your own without much chance in doing other geetar wiring, it will be best to understand how individual component work(from the pot terminals to the tone cap wiring to output jack 's tip and sleeve point etc) and also the standard LP wiring scheme.

It will be easier for you to troubleshoot if theres anything that goes wrong in the wiring.

Lastly, if dont want to spend so much time, just get some geetar techies to wire it up. Save time, even though have to pay them. At least the time saved, can be used for playing the instrument.

oh well, technically, yes, follow diagram it should work. But with wiring thingy and if you are wiring on your own, the possibility is 50/50. Either can work or cannot, the first time round.

i dont know how much techies are charging, i did the wiring myself. You will have to check with them on the cost

JP's wiring consists of splitting both humbuckers, putting them in series and putting them out-of phase. so it is the same.

does any1 knows if i need a long shaft or short shaft pots?

im having a rally les paul gl400..

for that, actually very simple. You just need to open up the control cavity, check the pot. For confirmation, unscrew just 1 pot(still with all the wiring intact) and check. Theres no way to go wrong for it. Long shaft and the usual pot, the different in shaft length are really obvious. For better visualization, just search for the pics of long shaft pot and normal pot over at google image.

Sorry for digging up such an old thread

can anyone verify that this schematic is good to go?

Tried it over the weekend and failed on 2 attempts....
Then again it might be just me with poor wiring skills.
:(

I'm using a 4 conductor Manlius Fat Diane for the pups. Checked with Mick from Manlius and he confirms that wiring color coding is the same with SD.
