Jamming CCA in Poly - what do you guys do?

no point, really. most of the NP population ('cept MCMers and a bunch of random individuals) are all way too chinkified. either that, or just bloody poseur-ish.

my friend and i went for the SCC's auditions in year1, we left straight after the president or some shitface committee member gave the short opening introduction.

haha yeah... i felt NP is too into chinese pop which is not what i want. anyway for those in NP, is it true that we can jam somewhere around campus but after 5 only? if yes then where is it?

Yea, but its the SCC's clubhouse. SCC = song composing club. I left SCC after awhile.. cause it was kinda boring la :P personally i'm a fan of mandopop (maybe only jay chou?) but I like other genres as well and the club kinda felt like a one-direction thing..

As for the poser thingy, I think MCM has its fair share? I don't think its nice to make judgement on people based on courses but I have seen my fair of 'act cool' people in MCM, but most of them are nice peeps la :D

No one really wears band merch to school in NP. ALOT of skinny jeans and cardigans though. Fashion Parade!

Oh yea and about SCC, theres actually a mohawk bassist who likes his rock/grunge and a really pro band, I think during one of the sessions they improvised some shit on the spot, you know.. those kinda power ballad thingys with the goosebump inducing solos. AWESOME SIOL!

not to sound proud or like im a god of my instrument but im in tp and when i joined music vox, i got drafted into a band that was seriously like crap. Not even basic knowledge. If ur going tp, i suggest u enter music vox as a full band, not as an individual and let them "slot" u according to ur influences.

eh yeah man i'm in the music vox cca and i'd reccommend that if u wanna join u join as a full band... it'll be easier to get in cos u know u'll already know the people u're playing with.

1. Yes, but only if you join SCC.
2. They will make you perform at Cheers on a friday when everyone is tired as hell and just want to go home. The only reason they will bother to stop and watch is to laugh at you.
3. The equipment blows.

That being said, there are plenty of decent musicians on campus, the problem is consolidating enough of them to get anything started. Deadlines, deadlines, it's all about that and not getting screwed over for peer evluation.

Agree with emochick's latter sentence.

We're doomed as idiots as long as we exist. Hooray. Isn't that lovely?

well, someone just made out MCMers to be so cool.

uhh the someone's me, is it? i just said most of the NP population, prolly cept the MCMers and a bunch of random individuals, are chinkified. doesnt mean MCMers are cool aite. just means they're slightly more sophisticated beings cos they dont listen to mando/canto pop. heh. they can be a tad arrogant though.

and yes, SCC's equipment is shite. you're better off banging pots and pans. everything about SCC is bullcrap.

There will be MCMers listening to mandopop, and there will be Satanic metalheads who sacrifice baby lambs in Block 72's toilet. You just never know! :O

The SCC's equipment is NOT shit -.- its actually quite decent and at the very least everything works. There are good musicians in SCC.. drums, keys, guitar and bass! Yes the main direction is towards mandopop, but doesn't mean the people there only listen to mandopop.

MCMer's might not listen to mandopop, but MOST of them listen to mainstream ENGLISHPOP and RNB and whatnot anyway.

At the end of the day, does it matter what they listen to anyway? =/

ps. any other bands in NP other than <almost an accident>?

heh i generalised, sorry my bad. i'd say most then, most MCMers. sucky thing is, most singaporeans are becoming more chinkified.

TP has Music Vox. 3 hours of jamming. FREE. But yeah, you need to have a full band to join. And tons of slavery happening to ;) especially when you're committee.

Hey, we did manage to form a good band out of the individuals!! Ok so maybe the rest are sucky, sorry to the guy who got slotted in with the untrained musicians. You stand more chance getting in to Music Vox as a band, especially one who doesn't play 'Face Down'. Gosh. Music Vox bands do get to perform for school events too.

To the guy who wanna set up the CCA, make sure the school has the budget or your proposal won't budge

I know Allura has quite a few members in NP. and yeah NP does have the money... they always get alot of funding from Ngee Ann Kongsi. haha
