Jamming CCA in Poly - what do you guys do?

i don't think SP has a "jamming" CCA. but we do have studios for bookings at one of the blocks. and of course, those who're in Music and Audio Technology (like me) have our own studios to jam/record. how blessed. hahahha.

gosh youre making me regret putting audio tech as one of my last few choices

SP has two jamming studios at the Moberly Block, $10/hr, soundproofing's horrible, the amps and guitars there always break down, but you get 2 guitar amps (but only 1 guitar xD), a bass plus amp, 2 keyboards, a decent drumkit (comes with 3 types of drumsticks), a congo which nobody uses, 5 huge bean bags to lie on, and the room's the size of around 3.5 HDB-bedrooms put together.

I'll say its good enough for beginners or for those who just wanna have fun. If you're an audiophile, then go somewhere else. $10/hr for such a frickin' huge room, you won't find this anywhere else.

Oh wait, all the guitars do not come with straps :|

CJ's music scene is reasonably large for its population (population about 800 per batch so that's 1.6k for two).

We've toyed on the idea of a jamming CCA before and even came out with quite a detailed proposal but it was rejected cause of budget problems, being not fully govt. aided. how !@#$ up can that be yeah?

NP's song composing club is pure shit.

bunch of arrogant sons of bitches, pretty darn sucky too. and fck abt the mandopop craze in POLYS. absolute bollocks.

RJC does?

Makes me regret getting suspended.

I don't see why Singapore has to charge for everything even if it is education-wise. Here, they provide all the equipment and space for free. Oh hell, Singapore's priority is money afterall.

Suspended? why?

No idea.

Singapore JCs and Polytechnics should invest more in providing for young musicians than on their cafeteria food.

TP have this thing call Music Vox for bands! and they even hold gig for those music vox bands. sound cool yaah

not to sound proud or like im a god of my instrument but im in tp and when i joined music vox, i got drafted into a band that was seriously like crap. Not even basic knowledge. If ur going tp, i suggest u enter music vox as a full band, not as an individual and let them "slot" u according to ur influences.

NP year 1 going on year 2 too :)

Theres song composing club in NP, and theres jamming equipment.

Only can jam after 5 though and you can't play too loud.
Mostly the members appreciate mandopop, so maybe you can start an alternative music club of some sort :D

Singapore Poly has 2 jamming studios if I am right? and theres actually a stage with mixers and all that, where you can bring ur own equipment and just jam there.

I don't know about the music scene in SP, but skaters are a-plenty ;)

are you kidding?? song composing club sucks! i joined last year and took part in their monthly performances. me and my band always got last in the ratings. they're biased against rock. and they always compose chinese pop songs. don't get me wrong, i don't mind if anyone composes chinese pop songs but they just wont accept rock. there are a few who look like they like rock but the songs they compose are like, wow, so gay.

me and my band quit without telling them. and to this day, they still sms me the when the practises will be held. thats the worst music cca in NP, man.
trust me.

i've also thought of gathering sone rock lovers and create a new cca just for kids like us. so far i don't have the time for it
