Is the les paul junior crap or genius?

Haha wanna talk about a peculiar guitar with one pickup at the bridge- The lezzie junior. Most people would take one look and scruff it off as crap. So what's your take on that? Is it an american idiot/green day cover guitar, or something more?

Btw the epiphone junior is going for $260 only according to sweelee website. Good chance to talk about how it compares to the gibson one and whether humbuckers spoils the p-90 character of the original.

haha personally i feel its not really a GREEN DAY ONLY guitar. Seems like it has a different sound of its own, creating a different vibe from a les paul standard unlike the way gibson intended. How bout some blues with a crunch on this guitar?

the only reason why there is a renewed interest in juniors, is that all the vintage standards are hitting sky high prices.
so everyone has turned their sights on juniors, melody makers etc.

this guitar can play anything as long as the person using it to play what they want through the combination of amp, effect, racks etc.

The defining factor in which ever style, sound, genre, ideas that want to be brought acoss to the listener, imho is the player not the guitar.

i think its a alright guitar.

but i think back in the 60s or 70s, the gibby lp jrs were alr seen as cheapo guitars. remember the vox of the wonders using the lp jr at first in the movie? then after they got famous, they were sponsored by fender and rickenbacker.

I've always like the jr cos my favouritest artiste uses it. Her name is Juliana Hatfield.

Hmm.

Gary Moore sometimes used one live during his tenure in Thin Lizzy. So we all now know it's not just another Green Day guitar

what the hell, is that guitar supposed to be intonated using a conventional stoptail piece like that?

PRS stoptail works the same way. You intonate it according to the low E and high E strings via 2 set screws and the rest of the strings will fall into place with proper intonation accordingly. Less moving parts = less loss in string vibrational energy = less loss in tone - supposedly.

Here's a Vintage Guitar Magazine review on the Jr.

I'm abit curious as to how mellow the tone can get if you turn the tone knob to 1 or even zero. Some people feel thats the juniors way of getting a neck pickup sound(for sweeppicking or what not). LOL. Anyone feel that one pickup is a severe limitation? Any shredders take on the junior?

WHAT !!! only green day..?!

Anybody heard of Leslie West !?!! Mississippi Queen anyone...?!

................. a hell of a tone.....
