Is ITE really the end??

ITE isn't the end. It's the begining of a very very VERY long education. ITE -> Poly -> Grad -> Post Grad.

But it isn't that bad really. You get exempted from some modules in Poly.

Hmmm, interesting topic for a school project. I'm definitely following this thread intently.

I'd like to ask a set of questions... What is the primary concern here? Schooling or Education? Outcome of schooling Schooling or Outcome of Education?

A little on the subject by Educationist & Philosopher, John Dewey:- http://www.infed.org/archives/e-texts/e-dew-pc.htm

how would you define success anyway?

Think very carefully about that
and then ask yourself why you think that way.

I got a friend, don't mean to say bad things about him. A Polytechnic diploma holder in Business, but he only work as a clerk coz he lacks confidence and unable to carry himself well. Education helps but in the end is you who decides how its going to be.

ITE = It's the end??? no, no, on.....

ITE= It's to enjoy :)

Im a Ite graduate myself...many years back...

I think if you're doing this as your project, you have got to be extra careful in the your phrasing of your survey question and conduct of interviews. Theres quite a lot of ethical concerns for such a sensitive topic.

For instance, associating ITE with the common stereotype of "is the end" is perhaps not quite appropriate.

Sim Wong Hoo and Elim Chew only had at most a secondary school education, and still they manage to become elites of our society

Mr Sim was a poly graduate, from SP if i'm not wrong.

Holy shit
Thats a lot of points!

Thanks a lot guys!!!

I dont really think ITS THE END
Its just the topic for my project...
It was meant as a motivational project to motivate the students.

Did you know that most poly students to go to Singapore universities were from ITEs?
ITE students have been stereotyped by many people and especially the media.
We just made the wrong decision somewhere in our life by not studying.
Most of my classmates are actually very intellectual people.
But just that we're were too darn lazy during our O levels so we ended up doing our higher NITECs instead of our diplomas...
But we're all motivated to enter poly after ITE...
Some even wanna get GPA 4.0 so they can try and leave by the 1st year.

My elder brother only holds a NITEC, currently full-time SAF 1SG. Still doing fine.

Who says ITE means its the end? At the end of the day, even if you have a Masters or PhD but you don't work because of whatever reasons, you fail.

I don think so...i make the right choice.. :)
i got a chance to get up to sec 5 but no...i don wan...not that i don wan study...i find it no meaning if i continue to study and fail in the end...

in ite i find it fun...with lots of fun in class...and crazy lecturer in my class... :)

ITE,Is To Enjoy.

But seriously there's nothing wrong with ITE.Its just that the way you were brought up and taught that makes you think ITE is the end.Spending your time with people who look down on ITE where in fact the ITE students are far more technically gifted than them.

So its up to you to decide which one makes more sense.

whatever paper you have (diploma, nitec cert, bachelors degree, masters to a lesser extent) only gets you the interview

everything else is up to you.

the fact that a majority of ITE students carry themselves in a negative way and portray a less than wholesome image of themselves to society probably does a lot to contribute to the conception that ITE stands for its the end. Of course that particular term was coined by Jack Neo and is not entirely accurate - but he was after all making a movie that had less than pleasant comments for the paper chasing education system that is in place

Help me out!

Sorry I know this is out of your topic, but can anyone teach me how to start a new thread?

ps: ITE is not the end. I have friends from ITE and are doing great in Poly.

cheers
