Is it normal to be 17 but still 'gig-virgin' ?

gutturalpiss - cool , first person who said yes . why why why ?

theunknown - well , maybe like playing in clubs or parks . competition is gigging too right ? performing wad . haha .should be la. ha. yeahhh . i'm gigging soon. real soon .

zerosoul79 - coool shit bro ! i really wish to perform at youth park . i can imagine that moshpit and that fans doing crowdsurfing. \m/ hahaha.

hifi_killer - bro , dont quite get who ur referring to. care to elaborate ?

It doesn't matter when you gig bro, as long as you are prepared; go ahead..
No point gigging when you're 15 just to make a fool of yourself..
Gig when you're 25, and you sound like a pro.. Now that's better!
17 or not, it doesn't matter.. My first performance was when I was 16 though..

Godspeed64 =

haha. yeahh. alot of ppl tell me that . but if i can make good music with basic stuffs , why not show em what i can do !

"everyone's doing it", "it wont hurt", "you love me right?"

im not sure whether that applies in this situation.

im 17 and i've only gigged once :S
which is in my secondary sch for teachers' day lol.

your first time gigging would be the most memorable on i guess?? my band had the loudest and most enthu cheers from the audience and they actually sang alot :D even the teachers sang along :D

well...i don think competitions are the same as gigging. but yeah. maybe u meant performing. then yeah. woohoo.

gig when u want and ure ready.

i think its perfectly normal, although my first gig was when i was 15 or 14 a few years back only. In fact i know ppl who are REALLY GOOD musicians, and by really good i mean WAY better than the average musician u see AT a gig, who are my age (18/19/20) now but have absolutely no gigging experience.

So yeah i really believe that being 'old' and yet still a gig virgin is a very invalid reason to feel discouraged.

yeah. some people..they are super good yet they donwanna gig. or they feel that they arent ready. but so what. if he donwan, he dont lor.

i haven gigged yet.must be a really geek then not to gig at this age.but im more concerned on laying out the best material than putting out a performance thats under par or same as the other bands.

which in this case gig experience and no ability to write good music is pretty much useless.

it rather depends on ur motive. for example dime here wants to polish up so he can perform the best he can whenever he has his first gig.

some people here like to perform. and perform just for the sake of performing and entertaining.
some people here like to play good. and just play for him/herself and be happy about it.
some people have the passion to write songs and share their songs with people.
whereas some...like to SHOWOFF. i gig=im famous.aint pointing fingers. not refering to anyone.

its just depends on ur motive in music.

dime bro what do u mean by must be a real geek to not gig at ur age? Gigging should NEVER NEVER NEVER NEVER NEVER EVER be associated with being cool or being a geek. never ever.

tim= bro wht i mean was im like a nerd not to have gone to stage yet.im other words its uncool that i haven gigged yet.only the cool people have gigged before.

haha to me people who gig doesnt equate to cool and people who dont gig doesnt equate to being a nerd. Therefore u arent a nerd

hahaha. yeahhhh tim's right. anyway , what if ur 17 and u still cant shred. does that matter ? well , i can shred here and there. but i hesitate when i shift my fingers and it causes me to lose focus and thats it. alll gone rong. im still practicing. gonna make my first video recording " Amon Amarth - Valhall Awaits Me " .
