Ipod or Sony Walkman?

oh one thing about creatives that might affect your decision: most of their players have a 6 band eq, which means you can have a custom eq set for your player, unlike ipod, where you have to set the eq on your computer before syncing your songs over to the ipod.

though i think the x-fi is slightly overhyped, as is the ipod touch (in different ways of course).

Ehh... that means that you set the eq on the computer or the ZEN?

Ok people! Last question before I go buy the Zen x-fi... anyone know where to get the best bargain for a brand new one?

Are those or the official creative store cheaper? Cos I saw they actually have a lunar new year promotion on where they selling it together with a free power adapter and the speaker at $30 off.

Can get that at the small shops at Funan?

Erm. I'm not really sure. But power adaptor should be free right? I know many mp3s don't come with chargers... but... I don't know how to say...

nope, power adapter isnt free not for the creative zen i think. it usually comes as a "promotion" item. and yes, the zen you can set the custom eq on the player itself, though i find the bass a bit too muddy. (im talking from my experience with creative players, ie zen vision: m, i wouldnt know about the x-fi)

imo, just get an awesome ear piece.

im still using my old creative muvo, you know the thumb drive one, and it works for me =)

One question here,

do you have to buy songs online in order to play it in an ipod? or can you download free songs online and play it on an ipod? does it work?

suddden revival of an old thread.

the problem of apple is that sometimes i feel that they're not doing enough to really make things easier. they're making it fancier but also making things a little more complicated with each illeteration. and I still can't set the EQ for the music that I like

Hmm, I find Mac OS X more convenient than windows... It do looks more fancier but Apple still included many shortcuts for users to use. I suppose that they do not allow easy access to EQ settings is because some EQ settings are quite shitty and might ruin the image of iPods?

noz, i'm not yapping abt the OS. I love the OS and i loev to own a mac, but i'm pretty anti-iPod. Sound driver is... bad. I can't set the EQ for the songs I like (cause I custom all my EQs), the touch pad is insensitive on my old 5.5G iPod, and it scratches too easily, which is no good cause I'm a wild person, running all over the place.

So, it means that on top of the 'Pod, you have to pay a lot extra to keep your fragile iPod safe and secured. Whereas my walkman has been dropped many many times and very few scracthes on it

the newer interface looks fancier (and much more colourful), but i still prefer the old interface. much more simpler and straight to the point, making the screen look less cluttered and stuff. oh for the ipod classic i mean.

It's true that iPod isn't that good as compared to other mp3... Apple uses the podcast gimmick to lure everyone to buy iPods...

I don't listen to podcasts.
Apple knows that they may be on the losing end of the MP3 player wars. Like, come on. How long can the design and everything last them? Many, Audiophiles especially, reject them for their exceptionally bad music driver and uncustomable EQ. Mostly teens and fashion/brand conscious people buy them (cause their iPods, deemed cool and chic)
That's why I sold my Pod 3 years ago in favour of my Walkman. Hey, my Walkman still lasts. I haven't heard of a Pod that lasts this long

dude relax... that's why they came up with something call iPod touch... haha those applications gimmicks again...
