Interview with METALLICA!

u must be jesting surely hehhe.......WORST snare sound n' production ever!!! positively headache-inducing!!! Even those one-man black metal jokers like Striborg, Xasthur etc etc sounds so much better..............

Im not joking man, it sounds awesomely brutal!

By the way, why is everyone saying that death magnetic sucks? The 2 songs released are so freaking good! They've brought back the thrash, the melodies, the guitar solos, the dam snare, the attitude and something new, which is Rob trujillio!

Aren't you glad that they finally listened to all our complaints and did something about it?

Death magnetic all the way, I CAN"T F##KING WAIT!!!

i just dont get it, why everyone have to be still living in the past and compare how better old and new metallica sounds like.

cmon guys, just freaking listen to it.

btw, ask Metallica, 'CAN YOU PLEASE COME TO SINGAPORE AND PERFORM?'

lets just say...old school rocks. New ones are hardly memorable if u notice. Its hard to find timeless bands like iron maiden, testament, kreator...and many more. They nv had the problem of fans not liking their new material coz they stood by what they played. Metallica changed their style tts y we have such complaints. These other bands, they only change the sound but not the style...

they've actually gotten to the point where they don't need to give a damn about what any of us think, and can do whatever they want. they could record with garbage cans for cymbals and it'll sell out.

=p

troo that. they've reached such iconic status..nothing anyone says/does can affect them. but i think they should retire with Death Magnetic. James vocal cords are fried and they're losing the edge they once used to have. Might as well go out with a bang and be remembered for a good last album right?

Infact when i first got my hands on St. Anger i thought it was shit. but over the years i started liking the songs more and more and grew accustomed to their new sound.

The whole worlds to hell what listening to stupid mainstream music. what the should listen to is metal.

Um, dude, firstly here's simple logic.
Without the mainstream, there wouldn't be the niche. Without the niche, the mainstream would consume. It's like ying and yang or good and evil. One cannot exist and be defined without the other.

Also, with sentence structuring like yours, you don't exactly represent your fellow metalheads to the best of their intellectual ability. :P Be open minded or at the very least, grammatically equipped :D

well, im not educated, actually i am. I'm just lazy to use my Intellectual ability.

Well, I would have been fooled into the contrary if you hadn't cleared that up. :P

Anyway, yes, both the mainstream and the niche have to coexist in order to thrive. It's really very basic logic. And if you're going to call people who listen to the mainstream 'stupid, at the very least prove that you aren't simply a case of the pot calling the kettle black. It's such a sad cliché to see purists such as you lament and rant on about their blah-blah grievances with commercialism, flailing about with their grandiose generalizations.

And it is absurd how fiercely 'people of the niche' guard their 'individualism' when in actuality, 'not conforming to the conformists' has, ironically, caused a very fascistic and unified clique. Which, in itself, makes you a conforming non-conformist :)

To cite a simplified example (for the sake of this archaic debate), a punk who thinks he is punk because he behaves like every other punk is in fact a conformist who is conscious of the general rule of thumb of what being a 'true punk' is all about. He is in fact nothing but a clueless individual equipped with little more than a vague understanding of what he preaches about – ideas that he goes along with simply because his peers are harbouring them as well.

In short, being a totalitarian is such a cliché!

But you know, whatever floats your boat :P

Um sorry, anyhow....
Back to topic.
Any more interesting Metallica questions? All the questions so far have been most excellent! You guys are more intune with Metallica than me any day man!

As to Metallica coming down to town, I'm not sure yet but I'll be sure to ask.
Chances are they will just say "oh we hope to come down soon" - that's what they always say! lol

Maybe can ask Hamett how come his tone in 'The day that never comes' so crap...how they can write lyrics like 'love is a 4 letter word' in the song!

They said they're going back to the roots..question is who's roots? Bon Jovi?! After st. limp I gave up...the 2 songs so far are not encouraging me to change my mind!

Any idea how many fans' names they gave to the courts during their Napster dispute? I thought that was a disgraceful thing to do for them. For a band which promoted the sharing of tapes in their early years to turn around and sue your own fans, that's so shameful

After watching the documentary "Some Kind of Monster" it really puts St Anger in a totally different light altogether... I think that albumis not really an album for fans. More for themselves, which maybe selfish in a way, but it's one of those necessary kind of selfish, just so that you don't loose the core of what you have.

Highly recommended documentary for those who haven't watch it. After watching it, I'm less inclined to be critical of them now, but Bob Rock still needs to get a boot up his ass.

Another question for Kirk: How many times have people asked him to say "Can I say something that I think is bullshit?" lol

AEnimic and Rackenstein: HOLY SHIT! That is BRILLIANT!

And... They DID say that The Day That Never Comes is the most downbeat song in that album, so those who judged the album cos of the two previously released stuff... a bit premature in your opinion perhaps?
