im completely new to individual stomp boxes and i tink the time has come for me to ditch my multi fx and get them. im hoping u guys can help me out on wat pedals to get. im a big metallica fan and im looking for that kirk hammet sound. frm what ive been reading in the other threads, ive decided to get

1)a main distortion pedal
2)a booster pedal
3)a wah pedal

can u guys reccomend me some pedals. my budget will be a abt 300-400bux. thx alot

main distortion: sansamp gt2 or clones. very versitile and has loads of gain if u need it. def good for metallica

booster: clean boost or overdrive-y boost? do a search, i remember there were alot of threads on this

wah: get mellas wah. hes a friendly AAA++ seller, lightning fast delivery and response.

u can always get my mxr doubleshot, or snarling dogs blue doo.. protone mach 2 booster also can.. but it wont come cheap..

Hi spitfire_121,

may I suggest the following for your consideration;

1)main distortion pedal (Visual Sound J&H, DS1 MT2 with Mod options)
2)booster pedal (Visual Sound J&H, SD1, TS9DX, BD2 with Mod options)
3)wah pedal (535Q, Classic, Zakk Wylde, Dimebag signature)

Note that the Visual Sound J&H is 2 in one pedal.

thx for the rply guys. im interested in the modded mt2. any idea hw much it costs? for booster ive only tried a ts9 and i quite like it. bt im hearing gd stuff abt the blues drive. so im gona do more research on it. oh, anyone got any comments abt the bad horsie 2 wah?

Bad Horsie 2? I have it.
Its switchless so you can do silly things with it without having to bother about having to switch it on. You can do like Vai on the Tokyo G3 for the song "The Audience is Listening".

It is a rock wah.

Has a milder wah contour than a 535, but the additional controls allow you to tweak it to sound wilder.

Default (Vai's) setting, isn't obvious on higher notes but again, additional controls allow to tweak that.

Finally, its a matter of taste with regards to it tone.

i read an article on The Guitarist's sometime back . it was a huge feature on effects. Their proposed line up for metal is simple

mxr phase 90

Seems a tad basic to me. Maybe u can work from these 3 pedals.
