impressionistic music

ohkay, i really don't have much idea on what it is, but recently i've been dabbling with sound like how they do and call it abstract art.

that's visual. this is audio.

so say, given a theme "silence is a form of sound", i do an audio clip of

1. the enviroment of being at an mrt station. crowded, noisy, busy.
2. i proceed into the train. quieter.
3. i get off the station, start to walk home. occasional vehicle sounds.
4. i get into the lift, quieter still.
5. i finally get home, get into my room, close the door.
6. and i hear only breathing.

something like that. painting a pic with just sounds, fitting a theme or describing anything you can think of.

anyone in this?

Well I do it but I just can't seem to strike that image which I'm portraying either that or it's impressionism at it's very minimum....

turbochicken, while these are the texture and tonal, you might wanna explore the space and time.

if you look at the commercial aspect, these are found in cinema and theme parks.

educational - science center

arts - YOU!

google about soundart or what brian eno did for his music for airport series

Locally, there are some who are into it, there's a shop at peninsular called flux us. They should have something which will open up the mind to sound/music beyond the normal listening by the average audience...

soft: science centre, you're serious? maybe i should check it out soon...

brundisium: what isit that they have, care to elaborate?

doubleblade: hans zimmer is a genius, but last samurai? that's soundtracking, no? (i could be wrong, of course)

i'm sort of referring to simply sounds; non tonal, like soft said.

Yeah but I always thought that if you you add a warcry in a song , it's no doubt related to war , if you add sounds of raindrops in a song , it means it's a song related to rain and so on and so forth. Now I hope you all get what I mean....

you know....

raindrops = rain

war cry = war

Unless of course there's something more in depth to it than just relating war cries to war and raindrops to rain....

last time science center got 1 dino exhibition. got forest, insects, wind, water, volcano, rain, .....

also, check out Discovery Center - the Army thingy. I think they should have some there too.

Usually these sound are used to enhance the audience experience by arousing their imagination.

hahaha, i know what you mean lar.

i'm just saying it's a give away. you throw the challenge out the window the moment you use a warcry in a piece about war.

and soft, those you're referring to are ambient related sounds?
coz i'm thinking of approaching it unconventionally, and am thinking perhaps a combi of sounds and music beats just having sounds?

simple eg, theme is "nightmare"

i do a fast bubbly melody, say with a couple of violins. and then i do not slow down but do it in minor key.

lemme note down science and discovery centre then...
