I need to fall in love with the Click 5.

Okay the deal is this. Truth is, I think Click 5 are rather gay. But I'm intending to take my girlfriend to their concert as a surprise as she absolutely adores them, and I don't want to spend 100 odd bucks to sit (or stand) through 2 hours of torture. Someone help me to fall in love with them please. :( Or at the very least, appreciate their music. Any Click 5 fans here who can help me?

On another note, the tickets at SISTIC seem to be sold out. Anyone knows where I can still get them, or anyone selling?

Listen to their hit singles over and over again till you like them then listen to every song they've recorded. Lol. If it doesn't work, consume something you're allergic to and give the gig a miss=x

This is when mp3 player comes in. Play some metal stuffs and do some headbang there bro!

Good luck with the headbang tho.

growlingsoulpup, i won't mince my words.

while your intentions would very much be appreciated, wouldn't it come across as being very pretentious to your girlfriend? unless that doesn't matter to her.

Try YouTubing "Jenny", I think it's their latest single, Singapore is the only country it hit no. 1 on the charts, according to wikipedia, but I think it's a really good song. Another one of their singles worth a listen is "Just the Girl". While their genre is very pop (and they're hence a little young in their fanbase), they're actually pretty good musicians, all being Berklee grads, and their songs are well arranged/ produced and are very catchy. For Jenny, check out the shift up a tone (i think) from their moving into the verse, and at the end, the cutting short of the last bit of the chorus to 2.5 bars (instead of the original 4). Over and above very catchy pop tunes, of course. I'm not in Singapore now but I envy you, the concert sounds like it'll be good fun -- even if you don't like the genre, look out for the musicianship -- these guys know their stuff.

That's sweet of you.. It ain't pretentious.. His girlfriend loves them, he is bringing them, and thus he's finding a way for him to enjoy it as much as she does..
Best is to listen to her favourite songs, and find out why she likes it.. If its the lyrics, try to appreciate it : it might be about you two.. If its the melody, lets hope you can at least skank along with it.. You don't always have to mosh in a gig..
Or you can gawk at their equipment, or maybe their skills (not saying they're very skillful, nor am I saying they are not)..
Or maybe marvel at their songwriting skills, which should be what made them famous..
If its their look that made them famous, then... Good luck?

i heard it somewhere so im not too sure about the truth in this but, i found it quite humourous that click five are berklee grads while dream theater are berklee dropouts. look at the different genres and styles, u d think its e other way around

Best way is to try creating some goofy parody out of it on your own or with your friends(don't tell your partner) and keep singing this parody with your friends till it gets embedded in your mind. This helps when you're watching the show over there, cause you'll be smiling remembering all the funny moments you've had with the song, by the time you know it, you're already gone through a few songs.

pop-rock cannot ask them shred mah. haha! and then go berklee got so many different courses :/

anyway, I don't listen to click 5, but I've heard them on radio since the 'just the girl' days, and I've got to say they're really catchy ah, listen 1,2 times the melody stuck in my head liaos.

but what to do, must move with the times, kids now hate pop, cause now got POWER POP! (or indie pop, death pop, black pop) :D

back to the topic though, you don't have to go with her what, get her to go with a friend or what lor.. even better is after the concert, you sing to her her favourite click 5 song :)

haha that shall be my new signature.

Just go for the concert. I am sure that no matter how cheesy or poppish they sound on radio, any established band's live performace should be at least good to watch. although u mentioned its a hundred bucks.. shit...

it's amazing how people get away scot-free with using the word "gay" so freely around here.

to thread starter.. i guess it isn't so much a matter of Click Five anymore, just be a good man and love your lady. want to do it, might as well do it wholeheartedly.

Powerpop has been around for decades.

To quote wikipedia:

Pete Townshend of The Who coined the term "power pop" in a 1967 interview in which he said "Power pop is what we play." As early as 1965, the Everly Brothers were playing music that can be called power pop. The duo's "I'll See Your Light" and "It Only Costs A Dime" displayed jangling guitars and an oblique harmonic approach that built upon the innovations of The Beatles and The Byrds. Those groups, along with The Who, The Small Faces and the Beach Boys, are often cited as the progenitors of power pop.

anyway, if you're stuck watching the click five, you might want learn a thing or two from watching their musicianship, vocal harmony, overall tightness and showmanship. They were berklee students after all.

Accomodate and compromise, TidesOfBlood. Wasn't that something we learnt in Social Studies? :D

Well, on the other hand TS, I'm sure there would be loads of eye-candies around. Kill two birds with one stone, make your girlfriend happy, make yourself happy.
