I was looking thru garage sale section. Was thinking of gettin a new and proper guitar since next year will be having lotsa gigssss - my 1st guitar is a J n D les paul copy- Suddenly something pops out in my head. and yeah it;s Fender Telecaster. Since, I'm still consider new to guitar stuffs- I spent the whole last academic year playing n doin covers for hall gigs, thus no time to check out dis n dat guitar- and e diff sound or tone a diff guitar model will give, wad does a telecaster offer in terms of her sound? wads her price range? I will be doing a little blues and countries song but most of the songs are rock and pop rock to cater to the e audience. my budget is about $800, dun mind getting a 2nd hand as long as its in good condition, is my budget too low?

yea i know.. forgot to add that in.
and thats like my favourite solo which i play everyday

i've got to come clean i've nvr learned that solo properly. being huge led zep fan its ridiculous. but i play my own variation! very similiar to the song remains the same version.

imho

The only way to find out is it the right guitar is to get one, play one. Its the guitar you will be using, to play your music. Other than trying it yourself to form judgement, most of our comments will only be based on our preference, music we know, we play, which might not be your preference, the music you will be playing and know. ..

Sound of tele, 2 single coil with middle position of 2 single soil together in parallel, Unfortunately, theres no better way to describe sound in words other then listening to it. Heres couple of videos on telecaster sound.

Ur budget can get u a Fender Japan like LadyInTears has mentioned. If u intend to make a lot of upgrades to it, I'd say get a Squier Tele standard or even a Squier Tele Affinity, that one isn't so bad, I love the neck cos it has a satin feel unlike the Fender one which has a lacquered feel, u may or may not like the neck. The Tele is versatile and has been used in even punk rock (Joe Strummer from The Clash uses one).

For me the classic Tele sound comes from that bridge pickup, more twangier than a Strat.

On and about Led Zeppelin's Jimmy Page's Tele, his was a top load bridge, not the string thru body kind, if anyone is interested :)

Japanese telecaster fender 2nd hand or 1st hand with $800? wads e diff between e mexico made, japan made and korean made?

Fender Japan 2nd hand one u can get for around $900 or less. 1st hand ones I beleive are around $1.1k-$1.2k, depending on the model. The mexican made ones have a satin neck while the japan ones have lacquered neck. I beleive the recent mexican models are all maple neck, no rosewood. To me, the japan ones feel heavier to me and of coz, they are more vintaged designed (pickups, tuners, bridge etc) plus the body is routed meant for single-single pup positions. The mexican ones are routed for humbucker-single positions, which means u can put a P90/humbucker at the neck position. Take a look at the mexican body:

haha same, i tend to neglect the bends and play slides instead, but sounds just as awesome! haha

Telecaster, and the music that is made from it, are the best recorded, hands down.

Take your 59' Les Paul and give me a Tele from any year~

Well ok, a '52 would be nice heh.

Oh, and go for the MIJ ones if you want to play what you listed out. If you want a P90 then do go for a Mex one. Thought about G&Ls? But i guess their abit above budget.

hey guys sorry to hijack the thread. Jimmy page uses telecasters before les pauls. and which tele's do you guys think is the nicest or something like that?

is it the Dragon Telecaster?

or the one used in the ARMS concert?

telecaster_bbender_3.jpg

or the telecaster with the big black circles...

teleplayer,

the telecaster with the circles is the one that was given to him by jeff beck. later, he removed the circles and painted it, becoming the dragon tele.

then one day his friend repainted if for him thinking jimmy page would like it. apparently not.

that brown colour tele had a b bender, and it originally came with a maple neck. jimmy took off the neck and put the neck of his dragon tele on it.

oh ya. I didn't see the b-bender on the second tele. so he went to strip the paint of the tele given to him by jeff beck? 'cause the dragon tele is kinda blonde and the tele with black circles is like near to white.

but anw, I was thinking of replicating his dragon tele. hehe.

jimmy page did not strip any paint off. the colour is different thanks to the different lighting in the pictures. if u're familiar with photography u'll know.

from what i can see is that that picture of the dragon tele was taken with flash. the one with the 8 circles arent.

btw i love those kind of straps. the hippie hootenanny type.

Which shop do you recommend for me to get a japan made tele? is there any specific trait that a Japanese fender has?
