How to properly store a guitar at home

hey i wonder..ye know some places when we'r performing we'r bound to play under a/c? n it reli kinda gets office-cool, if ye know what i mean, issit harder to play? Since ur fingers would get numb n all..I'v experienced this lotsa times. Bt nvr reli questioned for a fact to face..

best is either hang it on the wall via those guitar hooks. or put in your guitar hard case.

dun worry about strings rusting. it is inevitable.
worry about neck warping. this can be prevented.

And yes, I do get that numb finger sensation sometimes. I did a 'shred test', one at room temperature, the other at a cold jamming studio. As expected, I could only go half my usual speed in the freezing studio. Your fingers and the strings together will feel cold and clammy.

Neck warping? Avoid drastic humidity changes and control temperature. (No on/off air con, heat changes, etc.)

I see i see, but the thing is i switch it(air con) on every night, so would it be better if i leave it in a gigbag ever night after playing :)

Btw, thanks for the advice so far guys. :)

yea thats what i do. preferbly a thick gig back that can maintain the inner temperature to keep it constant not those thin ones. mine is so thick it can stand on its own lol. no joke, even spikes saw it and bought one for himself. my rg inside the bag fell flat on the ground 3 times, not a scratch, crack or dent.

what bag u usin'?

does it matter which position ur case is in?
(upright, flat down or on its side??)

ahhh... me and my friend had a gig and our fingers were near numb, we would have put them in boiling water if there were any around...

well, yea it kinda slows you down, but i kinda found a way to take advantage of it - warm your fingers up by just moving them around in a scaling/shredding/arp/whatever-u-like-motion, then take out your guit/bass and try to play the "hard" stuff that you're gonna play later. soon you'll realise the cold NUMBS your fingers, but mostly just the sense of touch. shred away! you wont even kno if your finger dropped off already. :smt023
i think this is especially good for players who get finger cramps when you shred continuously (esp on bass) for 5 mins, or some whose fingers feel pain really easily whether because of sliding on strings or whatsoever.

I think im gonna customise my whole neck n put a heater inside! Then heat will flow thruout the whole fretboard!!! Wah..cool man. No man..Hot man! :smt119 Should ask tht G77 guy, what's his name? Mark or somethin..Hahah.

The simplest solution to it all. Whack some beer before the performance! Keeps you warm, makes you garang

But, only for those above 18

There should be no problem, just monitor humidity and you're fine.

Definitely not place your guitar near a bathroom.

there will only be condensation when the surface of the guitar is very cold and the surrounding air is moist.
This is a very unlikely scenario if we're talking abt a normal bedroom with moderately cool air-conditioning.

Yea, the condensation effect. It doesn't happen like, overnight or something. But if you keep it up, or if you have friends partying and you have the air conditioner running on full for a couple days or so, while having the door opened and closed, the guitar strings will rust.

good point.

there should be a "moderate drinking for musical pleasure" gig. choose your drink. one bottle. down it. gig. (each person should be limited to one bottle to prevent those cannot-tahan-but-wanna-showoff types from over-drinking) bet it'll be a cool gig with some psychadelic stuff 8)

Well it wouldnt make a difference to me. I take a few sips of wine every morning for health reasons. And beer aint my thing

There's always hard liquor :D

I have it on a stand becuase i often find a riff on the net i'll pick it up and 2 minutes later it'll be back on the stand. i dont whipe it down either.

my room is always a nice tempreture, never below 20 degrees or higher then 30

Well thtz pretty much the case for most of us. Just wipe it off at the end of the day b4 u sleep or somethin. Hahah long island tea n hard liquor. I think of dave mustaine at times like this.

.

I used at old strat which I further cosmetically aged to relpicate SRV's battered no 1 - used to leave it on stage 4 days in a row when I was playing nightly...hot, cold, humidity etc..old guitars cud take it ...damm good
