How long would one need to reach such standard?

Well, i think you gotta learn to either intonate or tune your guitar properly first. ;) The guy was out of tune...

Anyway, it takes years to reach that precision. Maybe 1 year to get speedy, but only doing runs up and down. Throw in another 1 yr, if you have talent, for working out precision and dexterity.

I would advise you to consider carefully though.. the time frames above are if you are totally into speed... that means you spend all your practice time on speed licks/runs.

People like to see a balanced guitarist but there's nothing wrong with just sheer speed. KX is going all speed. :)
 
Patience dear ... patience ... the more you rush ... they more obstacles you will face. The more impatient you get ... the more frustrated you become ... that's how people give up eventually ... take your time ... enjoy the learning process ..
 
guitarman78 sounds like Jedi master talking to his impatient young Padawan. haha. but it's true, enjoy the fruits of your current labour, learn to appreciate what you have right now . 8)

Oh well, I wish i could be a Guitar Jedi Master ... my spaceship will be shaped after a Fender ...
