How high u hang ur GUITAR!

hello guys,

jus wondering hw high do u guys hang thier guitar. i have a couple of frens hu plays guitar but all hang at diff height, som high some low. wads the advantages and disadvantage? for me i play it with the middle of the guitar body at my thigh. wad about u guys?

I play with the middle of the guitar body at waist, people who play too low tend to stick their butt out when they try to look cool but end up bending over to play anything normally, unless if you have limb proportions of a gorilla.

It really depends on your comfort. Try it at different height till you are comfortable. No right or wrong height imo.

i play with the bridge humbucker at my belt buckle....my left hand cant do sweeps and fast shit on the low strings if its too low and my right hand loses strength in picking if its too high...so i more or less found a 'sweet spot'

well, i play around my waist there but when i wanna do solo i will life it higher thus i'll step on something to raise my leg.

I've long thought that the position of your guitar when sitting = optimal height.

Optimal = more comfortable and most access to the whole neck.

lol, for me, cause i'm a bassist, so when i'm playing with my band, usually juz need to hold root notes. So sometimes i'll hang it really damn low and juz fret the notes with my hands over the fretboard instead of under it.

but when i'm lyk learning songs like jazz and metal ones then i'll hang it up as close to me as possible lah, easier for slapping and etc.

Hmm.

I tend to hang rather low, at least, according to the few people who have tried to wear my guitars. However, it is a balance of aethetics and functionality... I sling the guitar low, but not too low such that I struggle to reach the volume/tone knobs. Usually when I straighten up my arm and let it loose the guitar's bridge is at my wrist area.

I hang quite high, the guitar is resting on the upper part of my beer belly. It looks stupid, but it help me to play easier.

Uh. There's no right height.

I value performance over looks though so ... I cannot understand people who compromise performance for the sake of looking good.

Okay, well, maybe I can understand when I look at pop music. Heck. If I had to play guitar for an MTV and get paid a bomb - I'll have the guitar hanging low!

Around the stomach, sometimes a little lower... Still trying to find a perfect height.. too high either like wearing ahem... pushup bra -.- I'm a girl la.. so yeah.. but too low can't really fret well also. Being able to fret at different height might come with practice though.

Hmmm......for me i hang it a little higher than bro fenderben, with the ribcage chamfer hugging my waist.

try hanging it super high like Tom Morello. COOL STUFF. hahaha but it really depends on u. just hang it the way you feel comfortable playing the guitar. i hang mine near the waist level. too low and i'll have difficulty going for the higher notes.
