How did your band get its name?

A good band name is born out of the band's musical theme, which indirectly means naming a band after writing some music is the best idea :mrgreen:

Hmm in both case... for my old band called "The Exxit" was like so obviously came up by the drummer and the bassist sitting at Starbucks, thinking of band names, stoning, and staring hours on end at an Exit sign. hehehe
Then my current band, coincidentally was thought up by my genius female vocalist, Maria, who was takina a stoning break from studying, and was thinkng of a band name, but thought of "The Highlights" because she was staring at her highlighter. So freakin random, but I loved it.
Dont get me wrong, theres no moral to the story here. What I say here doesnt mean you should sit hours on staring at some inanimate object just to come up with a band name.
Actually this reminds me of the joke, about how red indians came up with names for their young. hahahaha. The joke is, the parents go out for a stroll in the woods with ther children, and anything significant they see, they will name their child after it. Such as; Little Pony; Running Bear; Two dogs F***ing. hahaha...

PS: Have you guys heard of The Detroit Cobras? They are a very good blues/soul band from Detroit as well. Although they only do obscure blues/soul/motown covers, they are really amazing and sexy!

Withered Tree . ok this will sound cheesy man but you'll get the whole idea of it .
When a tree keeps giving and receives nothing , it eventually withers . tough it may be "dead" its presence is still appreciated by few and gives a home to those who live .
And only those that look beyond its " image" will understand the beauty of a Withered Tree.

my band has 2 names. at first, we called ourselves "white candy". most of us were "ghost enthusiasts" and called it after a pochong, in conjunction with the idea of the white rabbit candy.
then one of us felt that name was a bit too pop rock for us (when we're more of an alternative/blues/prog rock band). so then, thought for a while... then one day, our guitarist thought of a word we always used in class to describe masturbation... "Gonch"... and the rest of the band seems to be alrigh t with the idea.... so here we are... "Gonch"...
too bad we havent practice for a long time, not that we've broken up... we must be really rusty now...

i have a band. still rockin. we're a kind of alternative. somethin like linkin park. rap + rock. yea. currently we're getting more into metalcore like A7x. ahwell. we named ourself Broken Enslavement at first. it jus means that we dont wanna be the one lickin others' shoes. its our turn ta make em lick ours. yea. that kind. haha. but after that got some assholes copy our band name. heard of the metal band biohazard ? yea. they made their band name as Broken Bioheart. no originality. useless dumbasses. and guess wad. the band members were ASKED to play instruments. they didnt play according to what their intrested in. or PASSION. yea. so. we had a kind of a "challenge" with em. and we kicked their stupid shniggly wiggly saggy asses. after that we changed our band name to "Defy Factor" . it jus means that Defiance is a Factor in all of us. yeap. we're all defiant ppl . hahaha. to ppl who're hard on us la. not all. yea . hahaa. abit of history . and thats how my band name came about luhh. ha.
