How did your band get its name?

So you are saying that some band used a part of your band name and Biohazard's name to form the name "Broken Bioheart"?

I dunno, man, but unless you know them personally, I think there is nothing wrong with them forming that name.

But I like Defy Factor anyways

they're not some band. one of them is my ex-band member. he betrayed us. yea. and went to form his own band. ah well. old times. but anyway. they play for the sake of playin. so who cares.

there was once we entered school auditions and played one of our originals. and the judges said " Too noisy " . and guess wad. those who sang those slow chinese songs and another band who played a stupid song and cocked up alot. we didnt cock up at all. these judges dun appreciate music. ha. my friend got caned for pointing middle finger at em.(the judges)

haha. THANKS!

for my band we just think think and think then something will pop up! haha
our 1st band name was Splendid Adjustment.....well because we adjusted splendidly among ourselves...haa...

but we decided to change it as it doesn't sound 'cool' enough!

so currently we're called Against The Stars....meaning the stars are ppl who stepped on our heads before and we're against these kind of ppl....

I wanted to have a name that suggests:

- no genre
- no style
- no identity
- no permanent members.

I wanted a name that can be used to represent a wide spectrum of disciplines of art and expression: art, writing, music, performance, activism etc. A name that can be used no matter how many people there are on stage: one, two, five, more than ten.

Yet, I wanted a name that sounds cool, has a certain vibe that people just can't quite place. I wanted a name that is suited more for a collective rather than a band, a name that can be used as a brand, or an organisation, or a project... that spawns smaller projects of its own.

Have tried countless of names. The last name was "Ubermench", German for "Overmen" or "Supermen", based on the book "Thus Spoke Zarathustra" by German philosopher, Friedrich Wilhelm Nietzsche - http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Friedrich_Nietzche.

It was during one of the random times that I was thinking for a name to put on an Ubermench album that I came up with the term The House of Anonymous, cos I suddenly remembered reading up about House of Commons and the idea behind it - http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/House_of_Commons

The name The House of Anonymous (or THOA for short) sticks to this day.

re: Query..

Thoa, u din get a patent for the name.

so what gurantee is there that no other person(s) will use that name for their band?

out of randomness.

Randomness is correct. lol. We had to play for our school's chapel and my guitar had pentagram inlays and I had to stick some tape one it. It looked really plain and I thought of writing the word "l-a-t-e" on each sticker. But, happens there are 5 stickers, and late is 4 letters. So what did we do? We added an "S" to "Late". "Slate". Which actually is a word. We all thought: "Wow. This can be our freaking name." But oh no... When I went back and checked, some weird electronica band had taken the name. Considering how we just added an S to "Slate" to make it a longer word, we were stupid and added a H into it. Thus, "SLATHE". But it's still pronounced "Slate" though. Randomness...
