Horror Films

exorcist has mi vote for the scariest. the scenes are so freaky and disturbing. watched it once, nver wan to watch it again.

Ju-On is my all time fave horror film. Recently i caught this Ju-On spin off Old Lady in White. I rate it very much up there, simply made to scare! All in 60min!

The Exorcist, no doubt, is the scariest movie of all time and the main character became an icon for shock flash pranks found on the net :)

Has anyone watched Exorcist 3? There's this one scene which is scary and unexpected, the one with the nurse in it..

nah bro, the original exorcist is more than enough.

I don't find the original exorcist scary at all. Idk why. Asian horror are always scarier than hollywood horror and hollywood ones are aquite cheesy and sometimes even funny.

The films 'Stay alive' and 'Dead birds' are pretty good too, check 'em out. :)

And one that I found particularly sad... 'Cujo'.

I also found 'They nest' particularly scary. Imagine cockroaches that kill and eat people, and fly in huge swarms. It helps that I've been scared of big, flying cockroaches since young. I tell ya, no film featuring carnivorous man-eating creatures has ever scared me as much.

More names come to my mind:

The Fly (there's 2 versions, both are great to watch, its the remake that is more gory and scary)
Nightmare On Elm Street series
Poltergeist
Child's Play series
Carrie

There's this show called Bravo's 100 Scariest Movie Moments that I watched on Youtube..really interesting :)

i dont find them really scary, like they wont linger on my mind for long.
Ha but i love horror films with comedy elements in them. like shaun of the dead, evil dead & evil dead 2, but not evil dead 3(i didnt like the medieval theme)

This scene from Exorcist 3 scared the crap out of me when I watched it way back.

But gotta watch fullscreen and with sound.

Yup, the scene looks so quiet and peaceful and then the camera zooms in all of a sudden to a scary figure and music...brilliant :P I guess most of us who watch it 1st time didn't expect it cos the nurse had fully close the door behind her.

Well what can I say...classic horror films rule!

anything that's based on a true story is scary. it's just really disturbing to know that such things have actually happened to people. though they may actually be exaggerated. still, y'know. . .

Yep. Prior to 1973, most horror movies were either too cheesy or comical to be scary.....until The Exorcist came along. That movie caught everyone by surprised and totally freaked them out. It was considered so scary at that time that many audiences walked out of the cinema, while some fainted. And some people became delusional of what's real and what's not. For instance...the child actress, Linda Blair was constantly harassed by religious groups thinking she was really evil and possessed!

Here's the audience reaction......
