Horror Films

Has anybody seen faces of death? I reckon that movie's a lot more brutal than cannibal holocaust

I could be wrong; I believe FoD was a whole series? 'Twas from my time (80s), I've watched some VHS tapes of them.

Brutal? FoD depicted real death moments; CH only mere 'scripted' ones, I suppose.

I believe the novella was called ... Different Seasons or something. And yeah, stand by me and apt pupil were good movies as well. I think King has the most number of books turned into good movies, other stuff include Dead Zone, Running Man(ok sorry I just like Arnie) and he wrote part of Creepshow, one of my favorite horror movies of all time.

You know your Stevie King. I had 'Four Past Midnight' in my head, (3/4 of the novellas again adapted to screen).

Creepshow's just err.. creepy. For every The Shining and Misery, there're The DreamCatcher and The Mist..

*Asian (Eastern?) Horror seems to dwell on the supernatural, paranormal, ghostly, led by a female ghost in white; while the Western counterpart's version is of nuclear meltdown created monsters, inbred freaks, some psychopaths' with ethical / moral vendetta, the science-based stuff.

yeah, it's an entire series. i was grossed out by fod than cannibal holocaust.

I like horror movies that makes you think after the ending, like 'Three'.

I'm not sure if you guys have saw the Snuff Film link that was on page 10. But Faces of Death isn't as real. As in, part of the clips are real (the director said he bought a short clip of a real woman who jumped to her death, but the rest are all acting, other than the real clip which was shot using a video-cam) but the rest aren't.

There's just too many good Stephen King stuff. Other than The Shining and Misery, try checking out Pet Sematary the movie. It was freaky as hell when I was a kid.

yeah 1st time I watched FOD was after band practise in ex drummer's house .... the autopsy scenes TOTALLY freaked me out - coz they were real ....

there was this vcd back in the late 90s titled death is just the beginning. Or something like that. It was very much on political violence, stuff that news would have to censor for public sake. For eg. tank roll over human head and close up on that cracked skull, public execution etc. Final scene was a guy who pulled a gun out of a paperbag and shot himself in the mouth before a crowd of reporters. Check it out!

The thing about horror film is there'd always be a suspended belief of 'whoa, dude, is that true / was that really what I think it was..'.

Nothing beats reality when it comes to gruesome images, the ordinary accident, the suicide, the war.. Sadly we tend to get so desensitized and just shrug off another blown skull at the foot of the blocks..

Next please (flip page / move cursor / change channel..)

I watched Paranormal Activity yesterday. Not that scary as thought and IMO, it's boring.

Not only is it boring, it's the worst horror film I have seen in my life, period. To me, scariest asian films I have seen so far are Shutter, The Eye and The maid. Surprisingly good for a local production.

Zombieland looks fun to watch! Yeah, zombies in an amusement park, just like one map in Left4Dead 2 :mrgeen:

Guys, try watching the Swedish art-horror flick 'Let The Right One In'. It's brilliant. Won multiple International Film Festival Awards. Kicks Twilights square in the golden groin. Very, very beautiful horror film - yes, BEAUTIFUL horror film. :)

Search for it on YouTube by typing 'Let The Right One In Part 1'. Somebody uploaded all the parts. :)
