i like maple/ swamp ash better than maple/alder. more chime & quackier 2 & 4 position sounds. maybe i just like ash better. haha.

northen hard ash & southern swamp ash generally sound different though.

southern swamp ash grows in water, so its more porous, hollow and resonant.

northern ash is usually heavier, with more sustain and more high-freq bite.

its not as lively or ringy as swamp ash though.

this is in general. like all wood, it varies from piece to piece,

haha fine lorh. your guitar the best. hahaahha

I recently had a gig at TJC. there was this guy using a us strat with alder body and rosewood neck. while mine was a one piece maple neck and alder body. He was like coming to me and saying, "woah, your tone super biting leh" and commenting it must be the maple neck. I told him its probably the combo of my dimarzio fast track 2 i the bridge plus maple neck thats why cutting lah. He said my sound cut thru the mix pretty well despite the amps being unbalanced ( i was using a tiny line 6 amp while my other guitarist had a marshall) I think its probably cos i had a tubescreamer in the mix too, which tends to muddy up with my ibanez(im using a mahogany s series) but not with my Strat.

ok la back to topic. i tried suhrs and most of them impressed me. might get one in the future.

haha relac la ben....just having some fun only.....cos im jealous i don have such nice guitars like you......damn i gotta hear your swamp ash axe in action some day man.....:D

love the new guitars you bought....wayyyyy sexy man.

regarding this, i was told in the past that the fender headstock is actually part of the factor that gave the strat that unique tone.. some even add weights to it.. so now if it's chopped.. how do we still get that?

unless it's just a myth like a different brand of battery will give the pedal a different sound. hehe

remember to use rubber bands as string retainers... it'll give you that spongy sound...

Hmm, about the alder body with maple neck + maple fretboard. My Pacifica's such a model and i find it really cutty with my bridge's Tonezone. But this inherit property actually prevents my neck's ProTrack from falling into a muddy abyss. Fat with a lil presence..

These Suhr guitars really looks good eh, but I wouldn't buy em until I good enough to deserve em.
