I've tried using various Fender tube amps..they're really awesome for clean sounds, which is important to me. However, I like my tone to be able to take some gain as well and still have clarity and cleanliness..with some mid tones. The Fender unfortunately always gets muddy when it reaches its hot point.
I've played Marshall amps, and they're really the ideal amps for me...particularly the 4102 JCM900 dual reverb model..it sounds great clean (not too sterile sounding), and it can take some gain punches and abuses effortlessly.
Now i'm trying to source for this Marshall model, but I can't really find it yet. And I've come to realise that there are so many series of Marshalls..the MGs, the AVTs, etc..with different circuitry technology (tubes, to solidstates, to hybrids)..and I'm getting lost. I could sure use some help on getting good information and recommendation on Marshall amps. If it helps, I'm playing blues but I love some good sustainable, clear, hot crunches at times with some good mid-tones...not too dirty and muddy.
