Hey guys,

I recently got really into music, drums to be exact which lead me into getting an e-drum kit. As my neighbors are as$holes, they reckon im too noisy at night. So drumming at night is just impossible.

I've decided that take up guitar which i can make up for loss time instead of starring at my drums the whole night. The main genre i play is metal.

I browsed around and found myself this guitar:
thumbnail.asp

Model: Ibanez GRG121
Body:Basswood body
Fingerboard: Bound Rosewood
Fret: Medium / 24
Bridge: Fixed
Neck PU:STD-H1
Bridge PU:STDH2 Pickups

Do u guys have any other suggestions? or reviews on this guitar? and maybe some suggestions on pedals to suit my playing style too? and also maybe suggestions for amps (Marshall MGseries 15watts) ?

UPDATE: What do you guys think of Zoom G2 to go along with this guitar? And where can i get them in Singapore.

My budget is anything below $600 for the guitar.

It is priced at $300 at standard value. Any other shops that i could get them?

Thanks alot,
Kevin.

Somebody please sticky the above post as a template for anyone wanting to ask any questions regarding gear!

Anyway, I would say that the GRG121 is a decent, but not great guitar, given the consistency of the gio range of Ibanez guitars, you might end up getting a lemon.

I would assume your budget is around 300? Hop over to davis with a friend to check out the LTD guitars, there are quite a few within your budget (including amp I think), they are pretty decent too. Again, beware of lemons.

Thanks

Thanks for your thoughts, are there any links for the guitar?

Standard Value is selling the guitar for 300 itself. And my budget for amps & pedals are saperated. So yeah.

Thanks again.

is it your first time buying an electric guitar??
u can buy it
its not bad at all... my 1st guitar also GIO
LTD and Cort also good... :)

thankss :D

I hope so. As ive asked around and i heard ibanez guitars are more suitable for metal.

Jackson? Anyone? With price please? and where could i get my hands on them?

Thanks againn.

thanks.

how much are we looking at. i have a budget of 300 to 550$,

my friend got a jackson years ago and the price went up alot recently for the model that he is using. :D which surprises me! it is like investing on jewels and properties.

which is alot diff from drums.

thanks again!

get a mid-range electric guitar for your first guitar. and when you improve, you won't think that your 300 bucks guitar sucks... in my opinion.

true. if i have the interest and passion after getting the hang of it then upgrade to a better one. a 7string perhaps. :D

The guitar that guy is selling is not a GRG121 its a RG321MH which is much much better than the china made GRG.The RG321 has a mahogany body and, correct me if im wrong,it made in indonesia. So the quality is quite decent.
i suggest u get the RG321 which is on sale.

it looks nicer.. haha. it shows that you play your guitar regulaaarly. lol.

i don think so man. i have friends who are really really crazy in love with their guitar. cannot even see a single scratch. which looks really really neat. and he plays it regularly. 7hrs a day. he is now in grade 8 after a year and a half. no joke. an inspiration to all our friends man!

nothing is impossible if you have the passion for it!

thanks guys,

but the condition is not reli good. as i would want my guitar to be scratchless and dingless. it would be my BABY man! haha.

how bout this? suggestions anyone?

Not sure about that guitar but i dont recommend that amp.I really dislike it.
Even a roland micro cube sounds better than it.
Why don't you be patient and wait for a decent 2nd hand axe to pop up in
in the buy/sell forums.

that 400 rg is the best guitar to suit your needs for the time being seriously.
add in a roland cube 30 and youre good to go
