Hand/wrist Injury

ouchies.

thank god i only tore my knee ligaments, still can play drums.

get well soon man!

haha why not try using this opportunity to build up your other limbs? try to groove without your injured hand - especially if it's your right! then can build up the left - if not can do all the right handed fast rolls a la dennis chambers ;)

but definitely rest it out man - better to avoid a more permanent injury

nkf31's idea is brilliant man. Turn that injury into an advantage for yourself! :D

jenocide, I know what you mean. When I had to surf the entire day on the computer for research on assignments, my right wrists hurts man lol.

Kazuki, sorry to hear about your scaphoid fracture. It is actually one bone, not a series of bones. It lies at the base of your thumb. Sorry you need to be put on cast. If the fractured fragments hadn't moved out of position, it usually heals OK. Things like that happen. You'll need physio after this.

kazuki.. my heart goes out to you man.. hope you can be mentally strong during this time and stay focused during your recovery.

warm regards

whoa it does sound a lot more serious now - cast and physio. don't give up hope though. look at the def leppard drummer :)

Hey Kazuki,

Sorry to hear about your wrist injury. Yeah, you have to be very disciplined to lay off moving your injured wrist, even brushing your teeth could exert it.

I had carpal tunnel syndrome nearly 10 years ago from extended impact from the playing congas, that's why I hardly play hand-percussions now. I even had to defer some final papers I had to write for college, cuz I couldn't even hold a pen for 6 weeks.

But I've benefited from the physio treatments and stretches. It's SO important to rest. Cuz all our drumming muscles, connective tissues (ligaments & tendons) and joints need to recuperate. If not, over time, injuries can set in without your knowledge. In your case, you know you are injured because of a fall, but due to incorrect movement of joints, many drummers don't realise that the repetitive stress that their limbs are subject to.

Well take it easy and yeah... work on your feet! ;D

Peace,
Beboptang

Thanks guys,

I guess i really need to be out of action for a while. Got an appointment with the hand specialist next mon for further examination. Hope everything turns out well.

Currently everyday for me is just reading, watching tv and use computer. I am dying of boredom soon -.-

typed all these with one hand..

oooh shit man, i'm sori dude. broke my wrist before as well, hurt like a bitch.
gd time to train ur other limbs. ur feet and ur right hand, start doing variations between ur hand and feet.

dislocated my right shoulder due to skating, did surgery and therapy recently, just waiting for it to recover, can't play drums anymore though... well, maybe later after recovery.haha at least i could still play the guitar.all the best man!

hello guys,

sorry for mia, was back and froth for medical appointments...

I am itching too, but inside my cast =.=

another bad news foe me, my right wrist catilage/soft tissuenis injured too, seems like an after effect. doc says no straIn for 4 months anD Is on a full arm elbow to wrsit splint for it. Soft tissues are damn hard to heal, takes around a year, i think i am going crazy.

left - cast
wrigt - splint

i am officially a dead maN

Yeah good suggestion, work on your feet.... Lots of ppl neglect foot technique. Plus the feet are horribly difficult to train...
