Guys i have a suggestion so that all of us can improve in our playing

fIRDAUS - nice tone indeed and licks too but sometimes its not about playing too fast ...

e.g of the slow but steam kodok feel licks - Clapton, BB King, Mark Knopfler, Albert Collins, SRV, Steve Morse ....

friend i like the energy that you put in your playing but i think your timing is a bit off,your alternate picking is gd!!
 
Fendergibsonlespaul: Yes I agree with Firdaus, u have to watchout for your timing. Otherwise you're still doing good. About the shredding part yes a bit too much. Can't help it lah...that's what guitarist do but only us guitarists have to control the shiokness and convert to the feel of the music. And another thing, I observed you like to do half note tockle. Beware this can be a habit. It may be hard for u to adjust it later.

But nonetheless, you're doing good. Keep it up!

what is half note tockle?
 
Sorry that was the "Mat Rock" term of use. What I meant was bend the strings to a note. What fendergibsonlespaul did was...he bend the note but almost there....it's like..arghh...but not in line with the key. And this habit existed with some season player too as they started doing it from their very start which they all realized it's difficult to change.

One of my ex-student, now playing with some known band in a Pub still having the same problem. Try listening as much guitar licks as possible from variety of genres.

For me I started listening to Ritchie Blackmoore but turned to BB King later on. Even I've listen to some good guitarist...my habit is stuck with the BB King kinda scaling and licks. Only different is I speed it up and add some effects over my playing with modern techniques along the way. I am still learning though...as I've lost 7 years of not playing the guitar regularly.

HAHAHAHAH yeah ... when I was learing from the Mat Rockers back then ... They used to criticize my then lack of vibrato feel by saying ..."Eh lu main macham lu band kotai lah ...


*kotai - refers to getai band ...

Well done Likui! Very good! Simple yet soothing. That's it, u've relayed it well with the theme. Skill, technique wise don't worry too much. U'll catch up in no time with frequent practice.
