Gun Shot in Outram MRT

wtf! i was at outram mrt at 3 plus! damnit if i was delayed or smth maybe i could have stayed to watch! haha

I heard some loud bang in the morning, but I stay in the east. I could have sworn the ground shook, but I may just be dreaming, because I was 1/4 awake.
But oh... I digress.

On topic, oh I don't think so.

woah.. really shocked to hear the news. and i was on duty.

Really takes alot of guts to shoot at a person man..

Singapore will remain safe and secured with trained personnel.

the media, in their coverage of this incident, was rather engaged in telling the public the justification of shooting the individual. it seems that in S'pore, being a policeman with a gun necessitates full justification of its use.

the train stations everywhere announced an 'áccident' had occurred @ outram NEL line instead of a shooting incident- bravo to this country's propagation of precise information.

theres reasons and purpose why its done this way. It has nothing to do with not giving precise info...

if by announcing "we have a shooting incident occurred at Outram NEL line", wouldn't it just incite unnecessary fear and chaos?

eh? why shoot also must shoot in a palce where he dies, like lungs and shit? Shoot the leg or something where the bastard will whine in pain and suffer and not be killed?

Im sure he deserved a proper trial. Hmm. Oh well, he got his death sentence fairly earlier (Hopefully is WAS him who stabbed the dood at the hawker centre..if not then..LAWL pwnt)

cheers

it ain't easy for the officer who fired the shot
internal investigations will commence in the meantime whilst the officer is undergoing trauma and psychological evaluations

probably his bonus and other perks will be affected

any of you have taken a man's life before? Never i believe
the use of lethal force is the last means necessary to stop an immediate threat to life

we do not know what transpire and the close quarters involved between both officer and assailant

yup..we can say all we want like shooting a man at the leg..this and that as not to end his life but any of you ever been involved in close combat quarters whereby there is an immediate threat to your life and those around you against one man who had ran amok and brandishing a knife with a long blade and was earlier involved in killing another man...

but ah... i'm still wondering why nid the use of firearms...
there are 2 officers rite? and they have the t-baton rite?

there are 3 elements needed to justify the use of firearms
i dun think those 3 are present during the incident.
are they nsmen or regulars? either which, its still the same. both learn same things

i don't think the policeman had time to take aim.

if some guy charges at me with a parang and i had a gun, i'm probably gonna shoot him.

my wife said he should have shot the arm or leg too, but my POV is if he MISSED the limbs, whoever's behind the murderer or the bullet ricochet and kena some passerby, he becomes hero to zero. (getting stabbed first, then getting labelled as "shooter") so the chest's the biggest target board. (this ain't CounterStrike also, no extra points for headshot.)

its not easy for any officer in this situation. He was just doing his duty although i thought the 3 officers could have tackled the man down afterall they do learn close combat in training.

Then everyone will want to ride the Outram line and be there. Singaporeans = KPO. So I guess it's better for them to actually just say an accident.

I think maybe our policemen could have been armed with non-lethal weaponry?

I know the Taser's getting bad press in the US, but if a Taser had been used, we wouldn't have had a casualty, just an incapacitated person.

Oh well, just musings of the day.

I understand the police are not allowed to carry pepper spray over here, would have thought this would have been useful in this particular situation.
To shoot the dude did seem a little extreme.
